## Short answer

In Infor LN 10.7 Warehousing, the pick note (picking list) is produced by the outbound flow from the warehouse order lines: the warehouse parameters and outbound procedure decide when it is generated, the warehouse and location setup decide what appears on it, and the report layout decides how it looks. Configure those three layers in that order.

## Steps

### How to configure and test the pick note

**Items:**

- Confirm the warehouse is set up for LN Warehousing (not only inventory control): warehouse parameters, locations, and the warehouse is flagged to use the outbound processes.
- Review the outbound parameters and the outbound procedure for the order origin (sales, transfer, production issue) so the flow includes the pick step and the document you expect.
- Decide the picking method: pick by order, by wave or batch, or by location, and whether picking is released automatically or by a planner.
- Set up the output side: which report is linked to the pick document, which device or printer it goes to, and which language and layout apply.
- Create a test sales order with a few lines, release it to the warehouse, and generate the outbound advice and pick work.
- Print or preview the pick note for that order and check the line sequence, location, lot or serial prompts, quantities and unit of measure.
- Confirm the pick (goods issue) and verify that the order status moves on to shipping and that stock reduces from the picked location.
- Adjust the report layout in the report designer for your site (barcode, bin sort, notes) and re-test with a multi-line, multi-location order.

## Sections

### Where the configuration lives

**Body:**

Three places control the result. First, the warehouse and parameter setup determine which flow the order takes. Second, the outbound procedure and the picking method determine when the pick document is created and how lines are grouped. Third, the report and device setup determine what comes out of the printer.

When a pick note does not print, work backwards through these layers: is there a printer or device mapping, is the report linked to the document, and did the warehouse order reach the stage where the document is generated at all.

### Pick sequence, locations and lots

**Body:**

The order of lines on the pick note usually follows the location sequence so the picker walks the warehouse once. If the sequence looks random, check the location sort fields and whether the location master has the aisle and bin data populated.

Lot and serial tracked items need the picker to confirm the exact lot or serial. Decide whether the pick note should suggest lots by FIFO or FEFO, or whether the picker chooses, and test the exception where available stock is split across several lots.

### Layout and customization

**Body:**

Treat the standard report as a template. Copy it into your customer VRC before changing it so upgrades do not overwrite your work. Typical changes are a barcode of the order and line, a notes field, the customer pick instructions and a consistent paper size for your printers.

Test the report with real volume. A pick note that is fine at five lines but wraps badly at forty creates picking errors, so test the longest realistic order.

## Pitfalls

- Editing the standard report directly instead of copying it to the customer VRC.
- Configuring the report but not the device or printer mapping for the warehouse.
- Missing aisle and bin data, so the pick sequence is not walkable.
- Not testing lot and serial split picks.
- Testing only with one-line orders.

## Ai Angle

Before go-live an assistant grounded in your LN data can compare orders released to the warehouse with pick documents generated, and list orders that stalled before the pick step with the likely reason. ERPray is read-only and shows its queries; the configuration change itself stays with your consultant.

## Faq

### What is a pick note in Infor LN?

**Answer:** It is the document used by warehouse staff to pick goods for an outbound order. Depending on version and terminology it may be called a pick list or picking document, and it is generated from the warehouse outbound flow.

### Why is my pick note not printing?

**Answer:** Check, in order, that the order reached the stage where the document is created, that a report is linked to it, and that a device or printer is mapped for the warehouse. Then check the print queue for errors.

### Can I customize the pick note layout?

**Answer:** Yes. Copy the standard report into your customer VRC and edit the copy in the report designer. Add barcodes, notes and sorting as needed, and test it with the largest realistic order.

### Does this apply to LN versions before 10.7?

**Answer:** The concepts are similar, but session names and options differ across versions. Verify each step against your own system before relying on it.
