# Infor LN Text Table: How Text Fields Are Stored

## Short answer

In Infor LN, long text on records such as items, orders and customers is not stored in the business table itself. The record holds a text number, and the text lines live in the text table (tttxt010, per company), keyed by text number and language. To read text with SQL join on that number; to copy it, use the standard text copy functions rather than raw inserts.

## Query

infor ln text table

## Alternate Queries

- infor ln text field storage
- infor ln tttxt010 text table
- infor ln read text sql
- infor ln copy text between records

## Applies To

Infor LN 10.x and ERP LN 6.x on SQL Server or Oracle; table naming as commonly documented, verify in your environment

## Steps

### How to find and read the text behind a record

**Items:**

- Open the record's table definition in the data dictionary and identify the field of text type, for example a text field on the item or order.
- Read the numeric text number stored in that field for your record (zero means there is no text).
- Find the physical text table for your company; the naming convention prefixes t and suffixes the company number, for example ttttxt010 followed by the company number.
- Query the text table by text number (and language if you need one) to get the lines.
- Concatenate the lines in line order to reconstruct the text.
- To copy text, use the text copy or text management functions in the application, which assign a new text number properly.

## Sections

### Why text is stored separately

**Body:**

The Baan and LN data model keeps free text outside the main tables so that long, multi-line and multi-language content does not widen every row. The main table carries a long integer text number that points into the text table. Several records can have text, and each has its own number.

Text is also language-aware. The same number can have separate lines per language, and the application selects the one that matches the user or document language.

### Reading it with SQL

**Body:**

For reporting or migration you can join the business table to the text table through the text number. The physical names include a company suffix, so adjust to your company and schema. Treat this as read-only access: LN uses the text number as a handle and creating or editing rows by hand can leave dangling numbers.

Remember that text may be stored compressed or in a specific encoding depending on settings, so test the output on a known record first.

**Code:**

-- Illustrative only: adjust schema, company number and column names to your system
SELECT t.t_ctxt, t.t_clan, t.t_seqe, t.t_text
FROM ttttxt010100 t
WHERE t.t_ctxt = 123456
ORDER BY t.t_clan, t.t_seqe;

### Copying text safely

**Body:**

When copying a record, the application normally duplicates the text under a new text number. If you script a copy, call the standard text functions instead of inserting into the text table, because they assign numbers, maintain indexes and respect text groups and authorisations.

When moving data between companies, remember that text numbers are company specific, so a number valid in one company points to nothing, or to the wrong text, in another.

## Pitfalls

- Inserting rows into the text table directly, creating orphaned or colliding text numbers.
- Assuming one text number is valid across companies.
- Ignoring language: reading one language's lines and missing the rest.
- Joining without the company suffix, so queries hit the wrong or a missing table.

## Ai Angle

Netray adds a private AI layer on top of the Infor LN you already run, including on-prem installs. ERPray answers questions in plain language over LN data read-only, shows the query it ran and respects LN roles, so a consultant can ask the question instead of hunting for the session. The model runs on your own GPUs, nothing leaves your network, and any write-back needs a human approval. Cloud-hosted LN works too, but the design is tuned for on-prem and air-gapped sites. For pure navigation questions, LN's own session search and help are often enough.

## Faq

### Where is text stored in Infor LN?

**Answer:** In the text table, tttxt010, per company. The business record only holds a text number that points to those lines.

### How do I read item text with SQL?

**Answer:** Read the text number from the item's text field, then query the company's text table for that number and order by language and line sequence. Verify column names in your own dictionary.

### Can I copy text between companies?

**Answer:** Use the application's text copy or export and import functions. Raw copying fails because text numbers are company specific.

### Why is a text field empty in a report?

**Answer:** The text number may be zero, the language may not have lines, or the report may not be reading the text group. Check the text number first.
