## Content

**Intro:** A rated order on a defense contract starts a clock. Miss the acceptance or rejection window and you create a compliance problem. This calculator tracks that clock and tests whether the required delivery is reachable.

**Sections:**

#### How to use it

**Body:** Choose DO or DX, enter how many working days have passed since you received the order, then the required delivery in calendar days and your normal lead time. The tool shows working and calendar days left to respond, how many days you are short and how much of your controllable lead time you would have to remove. Update it when the order is amended.

#### The rules it reflects

**Body:** The Defense Priorities and Allocations System sets acceptance windows for rated orders: 15 working days for DO and 10 working days for DX, with DX orders taking precedence over DO orders. Rated orders generally cannot be refused for commercial reasons such as a price different from your usual terms, but you must reject when you cannot meet the delivery date and say when you can. Rated status must also be passed to your suppliers for the items needed to fill the order.

**Bullets:**

- Record the date and method of acceptance or rejection.
- Place rated orders with suppliers promptly and pass the rating on.
- Notify the customer quickly if delivery slips.

#### Reading the output

**Body:** If the gap is zero, your standard lead time already meets the date. If compression is moderate and the controllable share is under 100 percent, expediting scheduling, queue time and inspection may close it. If the share exceeds 100 percent, you must also shorten purchased material lead time, usually by using stock, alternate suppliers or rated orders to your vendors. Common mistake: counting calendar days toward the acceptance window instead of working days.

**Cta:** If rated orders are flagged by hand in your ERP today, we can show how to surface them on order entry with a clock and supplier flowdown prompts.

**Faq:**

#### What is the difference between DO and DX?

**Answer:** Both are priority ratings under DPAS. DX carries higher priority than DO and has the shorter acceptance window, 10 working days against 15 working days for DO. Contracts show the rating on the order.

#### Can I reject a rated order?

**Answer:** Only on limited grounds, such as when you cannot meet the required delivery date or the order is not properly rated. Inability to meet the date requires you to say when you can deliver. Check Part 700 for the exact rules.

#### Does the calendar day figure include holidays?

**Answer:** It adds the holidays you enter. The conversion from working to calendar days assumes five working days per seven calendar days, so check your actual calendar before relying on the date.

#### Do I have to pass the rating to suppliers?

**Answer:** Yes, rated orders generally must be extended to suppliers for the items needed to fill them, with the rating marked on your purchase order. Confirm the flowdown requirements in the regulation.
