## Content

**Intro:** Operators do not read engineering change records, they read what is posted at their station. This notice puts the essentials on one page: what changed, from when and what to do with old parts, with a training sign-off.

**Sections:**

#### How to use the notice

**Body:** Complete it when an ECN is approved and before the effectivity date. Keep the language plain and specific, naming the part, the change and the start point. Print and post it at affected stations, and collect signatures from every operator on every shift. File the signed sheet with the change record as training evidence.

**Bullets:**

- State effectivity as a work order, serial or date, not a vague 'soon'.
- Describe the change in terms of what the operator sees and does.
- Give a clear instruction for old stock.
- List a person who answers questions the same day.

#### Why a separate notice helps

**Body:** The formal ECN is written for engineers and often runs several pages. A shop floor notice translates it into action and closes the gap between document control and execution. Quality systems such as AS9100 and IATF 16949 expect that people are aware of changes affecting their work, and signed acknowledgements are straightforward evidence.

#### Choosing the old-stock instruction

**Body:** Use up before switching is acceptable when the revisions are interchangeable. Do not use applies when function or safety is affected. Rework before use fits changes that can be applied to existing parts. Quarantine is the safe default when engineering has not yet decided. Align the instruction with the open stock disposition worksheet.

#### Common mistakes

**Body:** Posting the notice after the first affected work order has started, missing night-shift operators, and leaving expired notices on the wall are common. Remove superseded notices so people trust the ones still posted.

**Cta:** We can help connect your ERP work order release to automatic notices, so production sees changes at the right station.

**Faq:**

#### Is this notice a replacement for the ECN?

**Answer:** No. The ECN remains the controlled record. This notice is a communication aid that summarises the change for production and records training.

#### How long should the notice stay posted?

**Answer:** Until the old revision is no longer in the building and the new work instructions have been in use long enough to be routine. Many sites use thirty to ninety days, but follow your own procedure.

#### Do operators have to sign?

**Answer:** Signatures are a simple way to prove the change was communicated. Where regulations or customers require formal training records, link the signed sheet to your training system.

#### Can I attach photos?

**Answer:** Yes, add photos of the old and new configuration to the exported document. Visual comparison often prevents more mistakes than text.
