## Content

**Intro:** A risk register only helps when people keep it alive. This worksheet gives ERP program managers a ready structure with example risks, automatic scoring and the columns steering committees ask for: owner, mitigation, status and next review date.

**Sections:**

#### How to use it

**Body:** Replace the example rows with your own risks, written as a cause and effect rather than a vague topic. Score probability and impact on a five-point scale agreed in advance, so scores mean the same thing to everyone. Give every risk a single named owner and a mitigation that is an action, not a hope. Set a review date and sort by score before each weekly meeting. Export to Excel to share with the PMO or sponsor.

**Bullets:**

- Write each risk as cause and effect
- One owner per risk
- Define the 1 to 5 scales in writing
- Sort by score at each weekly review

#### Scoring method

**Body:** Score = probability x impact, giving a range from 1 to 25. This is a standard qualitative risk matrix. Typical bands are low up to 6, medium 8 to 12 and high 15 and above, though you should align them with your organisation's policy. Qualitative scores rank risks, they do not give money values; for a financial reserve, convert the top risks to cost and likelihood in a contingency calculation.

#### Typical ERP risk areas

**Body:** Data is the most frequent source of late surprises, especially open transactions and master data duplicates. Integration risks include third-party testing windows and EDI partners. People risks cover key person dependency and super user availability. Technical risks include performance at production volume and environment readiness. Vendor risks cover consultant turnover and licence timing. Compliance covers tax, e-invoicing and audit trail requirements in each country.

#### Common mistakes

**Body:** Registers fail when they become a one-time document written at kickoff. Others list issues, which have already happened, as risks. Closing risks without evidence is another trap; require a short note on how closure was verified. Finally, an unowned risk is not a managed risk.

**Bullets:**

- Creating the register once and never reviewing
- Mixing issues with risks
- Closing items without evidence
- Owners who are not the right decision makers

**Cta:** If you want risks to be flagged automatically from project and ERP data, such as failed loads or late tasks, Netray can build that monitoring layer.

**Faq:**

#### How often should the register be reviewed?

**Answer:** Review high-scoring risks weekly and the full register at least every two weeks during build, test and cutover. Increase frequency as go-live approaches, when risks change faster.

#### What is the difference between a risk and an issue?

**Answer:** A risk may happen in future; an issue is already happening. When a risk occurs, move it to the issue log and track the response there, keeping the risk entry for lessons learned.

#### Should I use three or five point scales?

**Answer:** Five points gives better separation for large programs, and three points is quicker for small projects. Whichever you choose, document what each level means, for example impact in cost, days and business disruption.

#### Can I convert scores to money?

**Answer:** Not directly. Use the register to pick the top risks, then estimate cost impact and probability for each in a contingency calculation to build a financial reserve.
