## Content

**Intro:** A hydrostatic test report is the record that a vessel, pipe spool or valve held pressure without leakage. This template captures the data auditors and customers ask for, and produces a clean document you can print or attach to the data book.

**Sections:**

#### How to use the template

**Body:** Complete the header with job, tag and serial number, then enter the code, design pressure, test pressure and its basis. Add the medium and temperature, gauge IDs with calibration due dates and the hold time. Fill the pressure log by hand during the test and sign. Export to PDF or Word for the manufacturing data book. Save a separate copy per serial number.

**Bullets:**

- Record gauge IDs, not just model
- Note ambient and water temperature
- Record who witnessed the test
- Attach the sketch of blind and test points if needed

#### What a good report proves

**Body:** It shows the right pressure was applied for the right time with calibrated instruments and that someone qualified examined the item for leaks. Under ASME Section VIII Division 1 the standard hydrostatic test is generally 1.3 times MAWP adjusted by stress ratio, while ASME B31.3 piping uses 1.5 times design pressure adjusted by stress ratio. Other codes differ, so state the basis on the report.

#### Common mistakes

**Body:** Frequent findings are expired gauges, undefined test medium, chlorides in the water for stainless equipment, no record of venting trapped air, and a report with no witness signature. Water temperature matters because carbon steel can be at risk of brittle fracture when test water is much colder than the minimum design metal temperature.

**Bullets:**

- Vent all high points before pressurizing
- Control pressurization rate
- Drain and dry stainless after the test
- Never test with unrestrained blinds or unsupported spools

#### ERP and quality records

**Body:** In SAP, Oracle, Infor or Epicor, store the report as a document linked to the production order or inspection lot, and keep test pressure and result as inspection characteristics. That lets quality pull all tests for a serial number on demand and prevents shipment without a recorded pass.

**Cta:** If you want hydrotest results to block shipment automatically in your ERP, Netray can discuss how that could be wired up. The template is free either way.

**Faq:**

#### What should a hydrostatic test report include?

**Answer:** Equipment identification, code, design and test pressure, test medium and temperature, hold time, calibrated gauge IDs, observations, result and signatures from the tester, quality inspector and any witness.

#### How long is the hold time?

**Answer:** It depends on the code and procedure. Many codes require holding for at least a set minimum time and then inspecting at a reduced pressure. Follow your code and customer specification and record the actual time.

#### Which gauge range should I use?

**Answer:** Codes such as ASME VIII generally call for a gauge range of about 1.5 to 4 times the test pressure. Record the gauge ID and calibration due date on the report.

#### Is this report accepted by third party inspectors?

**Answer:** Acceptance depends on the inspector and contract. Use this as a base, align it with your procedure and the customer's inspection and test plan, and add their required fields.
