## Content

**Intro:** User acceptance testing fails when scripts are vague. This template structures each LN test with prerequisites, numbered steps, expected and actual results and a sign-off, so testers record evidence and defects can be traced.

**Sections:**

#### How to use the template

**Body:** Give each script an ID and name the process, not the session, in the title. List the data and roles the tester needs, since a failed prerequisite is the most common false defect. Write each step as an action a key user can perform and an expected result they can verify. Export to PDF for the test record, or to Word if testers will annotate by hand. After execution, add the actual result and a pass or fail per step, and log any defect with severity.

**Bullets:**

- One script per business scenario
- State test data explicitly, with real codes
- Make expected results observable
- Record actual results, not just ticks

#### What to test in an LN project

**Body:** Cover the end-to-end flows that run the business: order to cash, procure to pay, plan to produce and record to report. Include the customized objects from your inventory, interfaces and integrations, key reports, authorizations by role, and period-end routines. Add negative cases such as a blocked customer or a missing price, because users meet those every day. Where you changed behavior with scripts or DAL hooks, add a case that triggers the hook and one that should not.

#### Defects and exit criteria

**Body:** Agree severity levels before testing starts. A common approach is to treat any defect that blocks a business process or posts wrong values as critical, and require zero open critical defects and an agreed small number of minor ones to exit. Record who accepts each deferred defect. Keep the evidence, because a sign-off is only as good as the record behind it.

#### Common mistakes

**Body:** Scripts often assume the tester knows the system, so steps are skipped and results are subjective. Test data is another weak spot: if data is refreshed between cycles the script silently stops working. Finally, teams run scripts as a technical exercise rather than letting the people who do the job run them, which defeats the purpose of acceptance testing.

**Cta:** If test preparation is a bottleneck, we can talk about generating draft scripts from your process documents and configuration with a private model, reviewed by your key users.

**Faq:**

#### How detailed should the steps be?

**Answer:** Detailed enough that a trained key user who did not write the script can follow it without asking. Name the session or screen, the key values to enter and what they should see after each step.

#### How many scripts do I need?

**Answer:** That depends on scope. A common approach is a script per business scenario and role, so a mid-size LN project often has dozens. Prioritize high-risk and high-volume processes first.

#### Who should execute UAT?

**Answer:** The business users who run the process daily, supported by a test lead and a functional consultant. Developers should fix defects, not accept their own work.

#### Can I reuse the script for regression testing?

**Answer:** Yes. Keep scripts versioned, update the data after each refresh and rerun the critical ones before every upgrade or major change.
