## Content

**Intro:** This page lists the keyboard shortcuts that work in M3 13.x programs in the H5 client: function keys, list panel options and paging. Keep it open while training new users or while you work in programs such as MMS001, OIS100 and PPS200.

**Sections:**

#### How to use it

**Body:** Search by key (F4) or by action (browse). The Where it works column matters: some keys only act in a list panel (B panel) and some only in detail panels (E, F, G). H5 shows the active function keys for the current panel at the bottom of the screen and in the Actions menu, so if a key does nothing, check there first. The Mac row is the most common support call: on a Mac the top-row keys control brightness and volume until you change the keyboard setting.

#### Where this lives in M3

**Body:** Function keys come from M3's character-based heritage, which is why F13 is Shift+F1. In H5 the same actions are available as toolbar buttons and in the Actions menu, and list options appear on right-click and in the option field. Settings (F13) holds the panel sequence, which decides which panels Enter walks through, and the default sorting order and view, which F10 cycles through. Field help (F1) is often the fastest way to read the code list for a status or type field.

**Bullets:**

- F4 browse saves typing and avoids invalid codes
- F12 steps back, F3 leaves the program
- Option 5 Display is read only
- F13 settings are saved per user and program

#### Worked example: changing a customer quickly

**Body:** In CRS610 a user positions on the customer, types option 2 Change and presses Enter. Enter moves through the E, F and G panels in the panel sequence set in F13. On a field such as payment terms, F4 opens the browse of valid codes and F1 shows help. F8 moves to the next customer without going back to the list, and F12 steps back one panel if a value needs a second look. F3 closes the program when done.

#### Version differences and gotchas

**Body:** Smart Office and H5 share the M3 key set, but browser shortcuts can collide: F5 in a browser reloads the page when focus is outside the M3 program, and some browsers reserve F1, F3 or F12. Keep focus in the program panel. Function key availability depends on the program; not every program has text (F6) or field audit (F9). Demand Planner, Mongoose applications and other Infor OS apps use their own shortcuts and are not covered here.

**Cta:** If you want users to ask M3 questions in plain English instead of walking panels, we can add a private assistant on your own servers.

**Faq:**

#### What does F4 do in M3?

**Answer:** F4 opens the browse (prompt) for the field the cursor is in, listing valid values such as customers, items or codes. Selecting one fills the field. It is the safest way to enter codes because it only offers valid values.

#### What is the difference between F3 and F12 in M3?

**Answer:** F12 goes back one panel, for example from the E panel to the list. F3 closes the program. Use F12 when you want to keep working in the program and F3 when you are done with it.

#### How do I press F13 in M3 H5?

**Answer:** Press Shift+F1. M3 maps F13 to F24 to Shift with F1 to F12. F13 opens program settings, where you set the panel sequence and default sorting order for that program.

#### Why do function keys not work in H5 on my Mac?

**Answer:** macOS uses the top-row keys for brightness, volume and media by default. Set them to work as standard function keys in the keyboard settings, or hold the fn key while pressing them, and keep focus inside the M3 program.
