**Notes:** Files, libraries, descriptions and lock fields are from IBM Redbook SG24-5967, Geac System 21 Implementation for AS/400, chapter 3 (tables 6, 8, 9 and 11). The Redbook describes the 3.5-era product; later Infor System21 and Aurora releases may add files or change details, so confirm with DSPFFD or the System21 Technical Reference.

## Content

**Intro:** A searchable list of the key Infor System21 application files on IBM i with their file library, application, description and record-lock field, plus the library naming rules. It is built from the Geac System 21 Implementation for AS/400 Redbook and helps admins, report writers and migration teams find the right file quickly.

**Sections:**

#### How System21 names files and fields

**Body:** Physical files are named with the two-character application code, the letter P and a sequential file number: OEP40 is the sales order header, INP35 the item master. Field names combine a short field reference code with the last two digits of the file number, so the order number in OEP40 is ORDN40, and the same ORDN code is reused in other files. Applications do not always use the same reference code for the same thing: OE references the item number as CATN while IN uses PNUM. Many General Ledger fields carry no file number at all; FLP007 and FLP008 are linked by CONO, TXSRCE, TT and DOCREF in both files, so always qualify them in SQL.

**Bullets:**

- OEP40 + ORDN = ORDN40 (order number in the order header)
- Field reference files are named AAREF, for example OEREF
- Work files use suffixes WA to WZ, for example OEPWA

#### Where the files live

**Body:** Library names follow OSL + application code + type letter + version digit, for example OSLGLF3 for General Ledger files. Type F is a file library, P program, S source, I IPG definition and D display. Distribution files are consolidated into OSLD1F3 (AO, OE, IN, PM, SA, CN) and OSLD2F3 (AI, AC, AG, AS, CR, DR, DY, FC, TP, TS, US, VS, WH, WT). All manufacturing files are in OSLPDF3. Financial applications keep their own file libraries such as OSLSLF3 and OSLPLF3. To see every System21 library on your system, run DSPOBJD OBJ(QSYS/OSL*) OBJTYPE(*LIB) OUTPUT(*PRINT).

#### How to list fields and dependencies

**Body:** System21 ships database commands in OSLSYS that are quicker than the raw IBM i commands for day-to-day work: DSPFLD displays a file's layout, DSPKEY its access path, DSPDEP all logical files over a physical, and PRTDBR prints the database relationships for a library. The standard IBM i commands DSPFFD and DSPDBR give the same information. Before you write a report, check the field list and remember the Redbook's warning that some fields may be obsolete, reused or reserved, so verify the source of each field against real data. The System21 Technical Reference cross-references programs, files and menus if you have it installed.

#### Record locks you must respect

**Body:** System21 does not use DBMS record locks or commitment control for maintenance. It uses soft locks. Some master and header files carry a lock field that is set to a non-blank value, usually A, while a user maintains the record: ACTF40 on OEP40, ACTF35 on INP35, ACTF02 on PMP02, INUS05 on SLP05 and PLP05, and STAT60 on INP60. A header lock covers its detail lines. Most applications instead write a row to a record locking control file, such as INP99, PMP99, SLP99, PLP99 or FLP099. After a program failure these locks stay set, which is why the suggested Day Start clears INP99.

**Cta:** If you want users to ask System21 about orders, stock and customers in plain English, with read-only queries on your own IBM i, we can set that up.

**Faq:**

#### What is Infor System 21?

**Answer:** System21 is an ERP suite for IBM i, originally from JBA and later Geac, now owned by Infor, with Aurora as a later release line. It covers finance (GL, SL, PL), distribution (OE, IN, PM, WH and others) and manufacturing, and runs on Db2 for i with its files in OSL libraries such as OSLD1F3 and OSLGLF3.

#### Which file is the sales order header in System21?

**Answer:** OEP40 in library OSLD1F3 is the sales order header, and OEP55 holds the order lines by line number. Invoices are in OEP65 (header) and OEP70 (detail). The header carries the lock field ACTF40, which is set while someone maintains the order.

#### Where is the customer master in System21?

**Answer:** The customer master is SLP05 in the Sales Ledger file library OSLSLF3. It holds AR account control records and ship-to and invoice-to addresses, and its lock field is INUS05. Balances are in SLP06 (current) and SLP10 (period), and AR item details in SLP15.

#### Does this list apply to System21 Aurora?

**Answer:** The core files and naming conventions carry through, but the source Redbook describes the 3.5-era product, and later Aurora releases can add files or change details. Confirm each file in your environment with DSPFFD or the System21 DSPFLD command before relying on it.
