## Content

**Intro:** Before a shipment crosses into Mexico, the logistics team and the customs broker need one agreed list of lines, tariff fractions, origins and values. This worksheet is that list, with duty and IVA estimates so the controller can budget cash for the entry.

**Sections:**

#### How to use the worksheet

**Body:** Add one row per invoice line or per tariff fraction. Enter the quantity, the unit customs value and the IGI rate your broker quoted for the fraccion arancelaria. The sheet multiplies value by rate for IGI, then adds IVA at 16 percent on value plus IGI. Export to Excel and send it to the broker as a pre-alert so they can compare it with their own classification work.

**Bullets:**

- One row per fraccion, not per carton
- Use the invoice currency converted at the rate the broker will apply
- Set IGI to 0 only when a documented program or treaty applies
- Keep the origin column accurate because it drives preferential treatment

#### The method behind the numbers

**Body:** Mexican import taxes build up in a fixed order. The customs value is the base, the IGI (impuesto general de importacion) is a percentage of that base, and IVA is calculated on the customs value plus IGI plus certain fees. Under an IMMEX program, temporary imports of inputs can defer or credit IVA through a certification, so the cash effect differs from a definitive import. This sheet shows the definitive-import case, which is the conservative budget figure.

#### Reading the result

**Body:** The duty and tax share shows how much of the shipment value you must fund at entry. A line from a country without a trade agreement can sit well above a US-origin line even for the same part type. If the share looks high, review whether the part qualifies for a sector program or whether a US-origin supplier is a realistic alternative.

#### Common mistakes

**Body:** Teams often use the commercial invoice price when the customs value must include freight and insurance to the border under the valuation rules, or forget that the same part from two origins needs separate lines. Another common error is copying a fraccion from last year's pedimento without checking whether the TIGIE changed. Also avoid mixing units of measure between the invoice and the tariff fraction.

**Cta:** If your ERP already holds parts, origins and values, Netray can generate this pre-alert directly from purchase orders so the broker receives clean data each time.

**Faq:**

#### Does this replace my customs broker?

**Answer:** No. A licensed Mexican customs broker (agente aduanal) classifies goods, files the pedimento and takes legal responsibility. This worksheet only organizes the data and gives a budget estimate you can compare with the broker's quote.

#### Why is IVA calculated on value plus IGI?

**Answer:** The IVA base on imports includes the customs value and the duties paid, plus certain fees. This sheet uses value plus IGI as a simple approximation. Your broker's final figure may also include DTA and other items in the base.

#### Can I use it for IMMEX temporary imports?

**Answer:** You can list the lines, but the tax treatment differs. Under IMMEX, inputs imported temporarily may be IVA-certified or subject to a credit mechanism. Use the sheet to see the definitive-import exposure and discuss the program treatment with your advisor.

#### How do I send it to my broker?

**Answer:** Use the Excel or CSV export and attach it to your pre-alert email with the commercial invoice and packing list. Brokers usually prefer one row per tariff fraction with origin and value on the same line.
