## Content

**Intro:** A task card is the unit of work in a maintenance package. It must point to approved data, list what is needed and capture who did and who checked the job. This template builds one in a few minutes.

**Sections:**

#### How to use it

**Body:** Enter the package and card number, the aircraft, the task title and the data reference. List special tools and describe the steps in your own words, citing the manual chapter rather than copying it. Export to PDF and release it with the work package, or to Word for further edits. The parts and findings areas stay blank for the technician to complete at the aircraft. Keep revision control on the card so the reference is always the current effective data.

#### What a good task card contains

**Body:** Good cards remove ambiguity at the aircraft. They name the data, the zone, the tooling and the required inspection stages, so the technician does not have to hunt.

**Bullets:**

- Unique card number linked to the work package and aircraft
- Reference to current approved maintenance data and revision
- Tooling and calibrated equipment needed
- Parts and consumables with traceability space
- Separate sign-off for technician and independent inspection where required

#### Common mistakes

**Body:** The most common issue is a stale data reference, where the card cites a superseded revision. Next is signing a whole card for a multi-step task without recording sub-steps, which hides skipped actions. Do not bury a defect in the comments; raise a separate non-routine card so cost, parts and release are tracked. If your MRO system generates cards automatically, use this form for ad hoc jobs, customer-specific tasks and training.

**Cta:** If you want task cards, parts and labor to flow from one planning record into your ERP, we can discuss how to wire it.

**Faq:**

#### Can I add my company logo and number format?

**Answer:** Fill the station details into the card title and export to Word, where you can add a logo and header. Card number formats should follow your own document control procedure.

#### Should I paste AMM text into the card?

**Answer:** Generally no. Manufacturer data is copyrighted and changes by revision. Reference the chapter, section and revision, and let the technician work from the current approved data.

#### Who signs a task card?

**Answer:** The technician who performed the work signs, a second person signs where independent inspection is required, and certifying staff sign for release. Your procedures define exactly who.

#### How do I handle a defect found during the task?

**Answer:** Raise a non-routine card, reference the parent card, and track it separately. The non-routine findings log worksheet on this site helps keep them together.
