## Content

**Intro:** Planning knowledge usually lives in a planner's head and a few spreadsheets. This template turns the end of shift conversation into a one page record the next planner can act on in the first ten minutes.

**Sections:**

#### How to use the handover

**Body:** Fill in the header, describe the last MRP run, then list exceptions, hot shortages and supplier promises. Keep each entry short: part number, order number, quantity, need date and the next action with a time. Print or export to PDF and send it to the incoming planner and the buyers who own the open actions. The sign-off lines make it clear who owned what at the moment of transfer.

**Bullets:**

- Write part and order numbers exactly as the ERP shows them
- Put a time on every chase action
- Name the person who owns each open item
- Keep the page to one side if possible

#### What to capture from the MRP run

**Body:** Record whether the last run was regenerative, net change or a selective run, when it finished and whether it ended with errors or warnings. In SAP this is the MD01 or MD01N result and its planning log; in Epicor it is the MRP process monitor; in SyteLine it is the Planning Report output. A warning count with no explanation is not enough: say which material groups were affected so the next planner knows whether the exception list is trustworthy.

#### Common mistakes

**Body:** The biggest mistake is handing over a list with no priority. Rank the hot shortages by the date a work order or shipment stops. The second is promising dates that the supplier has not confirmed; write confirmed and unconfirmed apart. The third is leaving firm planned orders unmentioned, because the next planner will see MRP ignore them and may not know why.

**Cta:** If your planners rebuild this list by hand from exception screens every shift, Netray can help generate it from live ERP data with read-only access.

**Faq:**

#### How long should a planner handover take?

**Answer:** About ten minutes if the page is filled in during the last half hour of the shift. The written page carries the detail, and the conversation only covers the two or three items that could stop production before the next review.

#### Is this useful for one planner working alone?

**Answer:** Yes. It doubles as a daily log and as cover for holidays or sickness. A temporary planner can pick up open actions without reading months of email.

#### Can I use it with any ERP?

**Answer:** Yes. The fields are system neutral. Use your ERP's terms in the free text, such as planned order, requisition, firm planned order or exception message.

#### Should it be a controlled document?

**Answer:** Usually not. It is an operational log. If your quality system requires records of planning decisions, store the exported PDFs under your normal retention rule.
