## Content

**Intro:** Support windows for Oracle E-Business Suite releases end on dates Oracle publishes, and upgrade projects tend to run longer than the first plan. This calculator takes your support window and project phases and shows how much slack you have, when you must start, and what a delay could add to support cost.

**Sections:**

#### How to use the calculator

**Body:** Get the support end date for your release from Oracle's Lifetime Support Policy and your contract, then enter the months from today. Add your own estimates for approval, build and test, user acceptance and contingency. The result shows slack and the latest start in months from today. Try different project lengths with the slider and watch the chart to see how fast the cost of overrun grows. Use ranges, not a single guess, and run the calculator three times: optimistic, likely and pessimistic.

#### The method behind the numbers

**Body:** Total months needed is the sum of the phases, including the contingency buffer. Slack is months to the support end minus that total. The latest start is the same number, floored at zero. If the plan overruns, the extra support cost is the uplift percent applied to the annual fee, prorated for the months past the window. This is a simplification: real extended support terms can differ, may change by period and might include waivers, so use the figure from your quote.

**Bullets:**

- Slack = months to end minus total months needed
- Overrun = months past support end
- Extra cost = fee x uplift x overrun months / 12
- Buffer share shows how much padding the plan holds

#### Reading results and common mistakes

**Body:** A small positive slack is not safe if the buffer share is below roughly ten percent, because upgrade projects with custom code usually slip. A negative slack means you either pay for extended support, shrink scope or start now. The usual mistakes are forgetting the approval phase, counting only technical work, not including a second test upgrade, and treating the support date as the go-live date when cutover needs to avoid period close. Plan go-live earlier than the end date.

**Bullets:**

- Include approval and procurement time
- Plan at least two full test upgrades
- Keep go-live clear of financial close
- Re-run the calculator each quarter with real progress

**Cta:** If remediation of custom code is what drives your timeline, we can discuss using on-premises AI to speed up code inventory and impact review, with your engineers approving every change.

**Faq:**

#### Where do I find my EBS support end date?

**Answer:** Check Oracle's Lifetime Support Policy for Oracle Applications and your support contract or account representative. Dates and the terms of extended support can change, so do not rely on a number from a forum or an old slide. Enter the confirmed date in months.

#### Does extended support always cost more?

**Answer:** Not always. Oracle has at times waived or changed the extra fees for particular releases and periods. That is why the uplift is an input. Enter the figure from your own quote, or zero if your contract states no extra fee.

#### How much contingency should I include?

**Answer:** Many teams plan between 15 and 25 percent of the total schedule, and more when there is heavy custom code or many integrations. Base it on your test upgrade results. The buffer share output tells you what percentage your plan holds today.

#### Can I use this for other Oracle products?

**Answer:** The arithmetic works for any software with a support end date, but the defaults and wording are for EBS upgrades. Change the phase values to match your project, and confirm support terms for your product with Oracle.
