## Tool

**Kind:** calculator

**Inputs:**

#### Records to load in this wave

**Key:** records

**Type:** number

**Default:** 850000

**Min:** 0

**Step:** 10000

**Unit:** rows

**Help:** Total rows across the objects in the wave, such as items, suppliers, open orders and balances.

#### Single-stream load rate

**Key:** rate

**Type:** number

**Default:** 6000

**Min:** 1

**Step:** 500

**Unit:** rows/min

**Help:** Measured in a mock load on the same environment size, not a guess.

#### Parallel load streams

**Key:** parallel

**Type:** slider

**Default:** 4

**Min:** 1

**Max:** 16

**Step:** 1

**Unit:** streams

#### Efficiency of each added stream

**Key:** par_eff

**Type:** number

**Default:** 80

**Min:** 10

**Max:** 100

**Step:** 5

**Unit:** %

**Help:** Added streams rarely scale perfectly because of dependencies and shared resources.

#### Rows needing correction and reload

**Key:** error_pct

**Type:** number

**Default:** 3

**Min:** 0

**Max:** 50

**Step:** 0.5

**Unit:** %

#### Reconciliation and sign-off

**Key:** validate_h

**Type:** number

**Default:** 6

**Min:** 0

**Step:** 1

**Unit:** hours

#### Safety buffer

**Key:** buffer

**Type:** number

**Default:** 25

**Min:** 0

**Max:** 100

**Step:** 5

**Unit:** %

**Outputs:**

#### Effective streams

**Key:** eff_streams

**Expr:** 1 + (parallel - 1) * par_eff / 100

**Format:** decimal

#### Rows processed including reloads

**Key:** total_rows

**Expr:** records * (1 + error_pct / 100)

**Format:** integer

#### Load hours

**Key:** load_h

**Expr:** total_rows / (rate * eff_streams) / 60

**Format:** hours

**Primary:** true

#### Planned cutover window

**Key:** window_h

**Expr:** (load_h + validate_h) * (1 + buffer / 100)

**Format:** hours

**Primary:** true

**Description:** Load, reconcile, then add the safety buffer.

#### Window in 24 hour days

**Key:** window_d

**Expr:** window_h / 24

**Format:** days

**Chart:**

#### Load hours and planned window vs parallel streams

**Type:** line

**X:** parallel

**From:** 1

**To:** 16

**Steps:** 16

**Series:**

- load_h
- window_h

**Disclaimer:** Planning estimate only. Throughput depends on object type, dependencies between loads, environment size and approvals. Always measure in a mock cutover.

## Content

**Intro:** Cutover weekends are decided by arithmetic: how many rows must load, how fast, and what happens when some fail. This calculator turns those numbers into a window for bulk file-based loads into Oracle Fusion Cloud, so the plan is based on measured rates rather than hope.

**Sections:**

#### How to use it

**Body:** Count the rows for the wave you are planning, then enter the single-stream rate you measured in your last mock load. Set the number of parallel streams you can run and an efficiency for each added stream. Enter the percentage of rows that fail and must be corrected and loaded again, plus the hours needed to reconcile and get sign-off. Add a buffer. The tool returns the load hours and the total window. Re-run it after every mock cutover with new measurements.

#### The method

**Body:** Effective streams are one plus the extra streams times their efficiency, which models diminishing returns. Rows processed include a reload of the error share. Load hours are rows divided by the effective rate. The window is load plus reconciliation, multiplied by the buffer. Many loads are sequenced by dependency, for example items before bills and suppliers before purchase orders, so the true window is the sum of sequential stages. Run the tool per stage and add the results.

**Bullets:**

- Effective streams = 1 + (streams - 1) x efficiency
- Load hours = rows x (1 + error share) / (rate x effective streams) / 60
- Window = (load + reconciliation) x (1 + buffer)

#### Common mistakes

**Body:** Teams often take rates from a small test and assume they scale linearly, ignore the reload effort for failed rows, or forget that validation and business sign-off take longer than the load. Others schedule the whole cutover as one block without dependency stages. Reduce risk by loading static data such as items and suppliers days before go-live, and keep only balances and open transactions for the final window.

**Cta:** If you want help automating validation and reconciliation of loaded data against the source system, we can discuss that. The calculator is free and does not require it.

**Faq:**

#### Where do I get the single-stream load rate?

**Answer:** Measure it in a mock load on a test environment of similar size, using realistic row counts and the same file structure. Vendor figures and small samples tend to be optimistic, so use your own measured rows per minute.

#### Why model efficiency for extra streams?

**Answer:** Parallel loads share the same database and application resources and some objects depend on others. Doubling streams rarely doubles throughput. An efficiency of 70% to 90% for each extra stream is a reasonable starting assumption until measured.

#### How large should the buffer be?

**Answer:** Use 20% to 30% for a well-rehearsed cutover and more if you have only done one mock. The buffer covers unexpected errors, approval waits and environment slowness. A weak buffer is the most common reason a cutover overruns.

#### Does this work for non-Oracle migrations?

**Answer:** Yes. The arithmetic is generic: rows, rate, parallelism, reload share and validation. Only the measured rate and the dependency order are specific to the target system.
