**Notes:** Fill this from the where-used list and stock reports for the parts named on your engineering change number. Exposure is gross, so it does not subtract rework or salvage value; use the obsolescence exposure calculator for a net estimate.

## Content

**Intro:** An engineering change touches more materials than the change request lists. This worksheet gives the change coordinator a simple table for every affected material, with quantities, cost and disposition, and exports to Excel for the change board.

**Sections:**

#### How to use it

**Body:** Start from the where-used list of each changed component and add every material in the BOM tree that is affected, including subassemblies and finished goods. For each row, record stock, WIP and open purchase quantity, the unit cost and the disposition decided by the board. The worksheet calculates exposure per row and totals the sheet.

**Bullets:**

- Add one row per material and plant if values differ
- Set an effective date per row
- Export to Excel for the approval pack

#### Why dispositions matter

**Body:** Every affected quantity needs a decision. Use up is cheapest when the effectivity allows a run-out. Rework applies when a part can be modified or used elsewhere. Scrap and return to vendor are last resorts, and open purchase orders either continue, change or are cancelled. Writing it down per material prevents the surprise of finding old parts on the line after cut-in.

#### Reading the totals

**Body:** The total exposure is the gross value of everything touched. The largest single exposure shows where to focus effort, because one expensive subassembly can dominate the sheet. The average exposure helps compare changes of different sizes.

#### Common mistakes

**Body:** The usual failure is incomplete scope: only the changed component is listed, while assemblies built with it sit in stock. Another is leaving out service parts, since a change that affects the field may also affect spares.

**Bullets:**

- Leaving out stocked subassemblies
- Ignoring service and spare parts
- No effective date for each row

**Cta:** Netray can help generate this list automatically from where-used data and stock reports, so every change starts with a complete impact table.

**Faq:**

#### Where do I get the affected materials?

**Answer:** Run a where-used for the changed component through all BOM levels, then add materials from your change request. Include variants and plants. A multi-level where-used report is the usual starting point.

#### Is exposure the same as loss?

**Answer:** No. It is the gross value of the quantities touched. The loss depends on dispositions and recovery, which the obsolescence exposure calculator estimates.

#### Can I attach this to the change record?

**Answer:** Export it to Excel or PDF and attach it to your change request, or reference it in the change master record according to your process.

#### Should every plant have its own row?

**Answer:** Yes if stock, cost or effective dates differ by plant. Otherwise a single row with the combined quantities is easier to review.
