## Content

**Intro:** SAP derives available capacity from the capacity header and the shift definition, not from a single field. This calculator reproduces that logic so you can sanity check CR02 settings and test overload before running CM01 or CM21.

**Sections:**

#### How to use this calculator

**Body:** Enter the shift pattern, the number of individual capacities, and the utilization and efficiency rates from the capacity header. Add the standard load from your orders. The tool returns available hours, scheduled load, load percent and overload or free hours. Slide the utilization rate to see how much margin planned downtime consumes.

**Bullets:**

- Utilization rate and efficiency rate are different things: one shrinks available time, the other scales required time.
- The standard available capacity in the capacity header is shown in CR02 under Capacities.

#### How SAP calculates it

**Body:** Available capacity per day equals operating time (shift start to end minus breaks) times utilization rate divided by 100 times the number of individual capacities. The efficiency rate is applied to the load, since durations in the order are computed as standard value divided by efficiency rate. The capacity load shown in CM01 and CM02 is load divided by available capacity. Long term planning and capacity leveling use the same base.

#### Reading the result

**Body:** Under 85 percent load usually gives scheduling room for rush orders. Between 85 and 100 percent leaves little buffer and expedites will fail. Above 100 percent, either capacity must be added, orders moved or lot sizes changed. Remember that a loaded week may still hide daily peaks, so check daily load too.

**Bullets:**

- Use the capacity leveling transaction CM21 or CM25 to shift orders across periods.
- Add overtime as a second shift pattern in the capacity header rather than raising the utilization rate.

#### Common mistakes

**Body:** A common error is entering a utilization rate that already includes efficiency losses, then applying efficiency again. Another is forgetting that the number of individual capacities multiplies available time, so a work center of four machines is treated as four parallel resources. Also check whether the work center has finite scheduling or only requirements display.

**Cta:** Netray can pull work center capacity, loads and overloads from SAP and let planners ask for the worst bottlenecks in plain language, with read-only access.

**Faq:**

#### Where is available capacity maintained in SAP?

**Answer:** In the work center capacity header, transaction CR02 under Capacities. It holds the factory calendar, shift definition, utilization rate and number of individual capacities used by capacity planning.

#### What is the difference between utilization and efficiency?

**Answer:** Utilization rate reduces available time for planned downtime. Efficiency rate changes how long an operation takes compared with the standard in the routing. They act on different sides of the load calculation.

#### Why does CM01 show a different load than my order list?

**Answer:** CM01 can use different capacity categories, scheduling basis dates and selection variants. Orders without scheduled dates or released status can also be excluded or included depending on the evaluation profile.

#### Can I model overtime here?

**Answer:** Yes, add the overtime hours into shift hours or days, or compare two scenarios. In SAP, model it through an additional shift sequence in the capacity header.
