## Content

**Intro:** Most inspection plan problems are decided before anyone opens SAP: which characteristics, which method, which sample. This worksheet lets the quality engineer and the SAP QM consultant agree the content row by row and see the inspection time it implies.

**Sections:**

#### How to use it

**Body:** List each characteristic by operation, choose its data type, state the method and the limits, then the sample size and time per unit. The worksheet computes the tolerance width and minutes per lot and totals them. Edit, add or delete rows freely and export to Excel to send for review. Group rows by operation as they will appear in the inspection plan so the review follows the same order as the SAP master data.

#### Mapping to SAP QM objects

**Body:** Each row maps to a master inspection characteristic (transaction QS21), usually a quantitative or qualitative one, which is then assigned to an operation in the inspection plan (QP01). The inspection method is a separate master record (QS31), and the sampling procedure (QDV1) defines the sample size. Planning these together prevents later rework when a characteristic is created without a method or valid sample rule.

#### Reviewing the plan

**Body:** Check that every drawing characteristic flagged critical has a row, that limits match the latest drawing revision and that the data type fits the way results will be recorded. Quantitative characteristics are needed if you want capability analysis later. Sum the minutes per lot against realistic throughput; a plan that takes 90 minutes per lot will not be followed on a busy dock.

#### Common mistakes

**Body:** Writing the limits as a tolerance range instead of absolute values, mixing units across rows, using attribute checks where a measurement would yield capability data, and forgetting document and label checks that auditors ask for.

**Cta:** If you maintain many inspection plans, we can help generate and check them against drawings and ERP data before they are loaded, with human approval.

**Faq:**

#### Can I load this straight into SAP?

**Answer:** No, it is a planning document. Use it to align on content, then maintain master data in SAP or through your standard mass upload route.

#### Why compute minutes per lot?

**Answer:** It shows the workload a plan creates, so you can balance risk against the inspector time actually available.

#### How do I treat qualitative checks?

**Answer:** Choose the Qualitative type, leave numeric limits at zero and describe the acceptance criterion in the method column.

#### What about different inspection types?

**Answer:** Create one worksheet per inspection type, for example goods receipt, in-process and final, since sample sizes and characteristics differ.
