Job / lot: {{job}}
Thread: {{thread}} ({{thread_type}})
Date: {{date}}
Inspector: {{inspector}}

#### Gauging Method

**Body:** Method: {{gauge_type}}
GO gauge: {{go_id}}
NOGO gauge: {{nogo_id}}

#### Remarks

**Body:** {{remarks}}

#### Disposition

**Body:** Disposition: {{disposition}}

#### Approvals

**Signatures:**

**Notes:** Follow the gauge manufacturer instructions and your customer drawing for the exact acceptance method, since NOGO rules differ by class and gauge type. This sheet records results and is not a substitute for the thread standard.

## Content

**Intro:** Thread checks are quick, yet the record of them is often a tick on a traveler. This template records the thread callout, gauge IDs, calibration dates and piece-by-piece results so a thread nonconformance can be traced.

**Sections:**

#### How to use the record

**Body:** Enter the thread callout exactly as on the drawing, choose whether it is internal or external, and note which gauge set you used. Record calibration due dates for both GO and NOGO gauges, since an expired gauge invalidates the check. Then fill the results table during inspection, one row per piece, and select a final disposition. Export to PDF and attach it to the lot.

#### How GO and NOGO gauging works

**Body:** A GO gauge checks the maximum material condition: it must thread on or in freely along the full thread length. A NOGO gauge checks the minimum material limit: it must not advance beyond the allowed number of turns, often stated by the gauge maker. For Unified threads, the class on the drawing, such as 2A for external or 2B for internal, sets the tolerance. Metric threads use tolerance classes such as 6g or 6H.

#### What to record when a thread fails

**Body:** Note which gauge failed and how: a GO that will not start suggests an oversize external or undersize internal thread, burrs, or damage, while a NOGO that goes too far suggests the opposite or a worn cutter. Add the visual finding, tool station and last insert change so the process cause can be found. Do not re-chase and re-gauge without logging the first result.

#### Common mistakes

**Body:** Do not force gauges; they are meant to turn by hand. Clean threads and gauges of chips and oil before checking. Avoid using one gauge past its calibration date. Record plating or coating: gauge acceptance before and after plating differs, and the drawing states which condition applies. Finally, do not treat a pass on gauges as proof of pitch diameter when the customer demands measured values.

**Cta:** If you need thread results to roll into lot traceability and nonconformance records in your ERP, Netray can help design that flow.

**Faq:**

#### What does UNC 2A mean?

**Answer:** UNC means Unified National Coarse, the standard coarse pitch series. The number is the class of fit and the letter A means an external thread, B an internal thread. Class 2 is the common general-purpose fit, with class 3 tighter.

#### How often should thread gauges be calibrated?

**Answer:** Interval depends on use, wear risk and customer or quality system rules. Many shops use six to twelve months and shorter for heavily used gauges. Follow your calibration procedure and record the due date on the inspection sheet.

#### Do I need a NOGO check on every part?

**Answer:** Not always. Your control plan or customer drawing sets the frequency. Many plans check GO on every part and the NOGO on first piece and at intervals. Write the actual sample plan on the record so it can be audited.

#### Can I use this for metric threads?

**Answer:** Yes. Enter a callout like M12x1.75-6g in the thread field and record the metric gauge IDs. The layout is the same, only the tolerance class and gauge set differ.
