## Content

**Intro:** Most warehouse arguments about performance are arguments about definitions. This reference lists the common warehouse KPIs with one clear formula each, the unit and the pitfalls that lead to bad comparisons.

**Sections:**

#### How to use the list

**Body:** Search by KPI name or area, such as Picking or Dock, and read the formula and pitfall columns together. Pick a small set that matches your operation, usually accuracy, speed, productivity and cost, and write the formulas into your reporting spec. Export the rows you select to Excel to build a KPI dictionary your team can sign off.

#### Choose a balanced set

**Body:** A single KPI invites gaming. Pairing an accuracy measure with a productivity measure, for example order picking accuracy with lines per labor hour, keeps speed from being traded for errors. Add one capacity measure such as space utilization and one financial measure such as cost per order line so management sees the full picture.

**Bullets:**

- Accuracy: picking, receiving, inventory
- Speed: dock to stock, order cycle time
- Productivity: lines or units per labor hour
- Capacity and cost: utilization, cost per line

#### Where the data comes from

**Body:** Most of these KPIs come from timestamps and counts already in your WMS or ERP: receipt, putaway, pick confirmation, pack and ship transactions, plus labor from time and attendance. If the timestamps are missing or batch-confirmed at the end of a shift, the KPI is not trustworthy. Fix the scan discipline first, then the dashboard.

#### Common mistakes

**Body:** Teams often compare sites that define a KPI differently, report only averages, or track too many measures to act on any. Treat the pitfall column as a checklist when you review a report. If a number looks too good, check whether the denominator was narrowed.

**Cta:** If your KPIs are rebuilt by hand from ERP exports each month, we can help automate them from the source tables with the definitions you choose.

**Faq:**

#### What is a good order picking accuracy?

**Answer:** Many operations target 99 percent or higher, and high-performing sites with scanning often reach well above that. The right target depends on order value, error cost and your pick method, so set it with your customers in mind.

#### What is the difference between order fill rate and line fill rate?

**Answer:** Order fill rate counts orders shipped fully complete. Line fill rate counts individual order lines shipped complete. On orders with many lines, line fill rate is usually higher because one short line spoils the whole order for order fill rate.

#### How is dock to stock time measured?

**Answer:** From the time the truck is checked in at the gate or dock to the time the goods are received and available in the system. Some sites measure from unload start; whichever you use, apply it consistently.

#### How many KPIs should a warehouse track?

**Answer:** Usually five to ten for a site, reviewed weekly, with a deeper set for supervisors. Too many KPIs dilute focus. Pick the ones that match your biggest problems and your customer promises.
