## Content

**Intro:** A harness quote that lists only a unit price invites disputes later about revision, test scope, workmanship class and what happens when quantity moves. This template puts those points on the document alongside the price breaks.

**Sections:**

#### How to use the template

**Body:** Fill in the header with your quote number and the customer RFQ reference, then the customer part number and drawing revision. Select the workmanship standard, enter price breaks and any one-time NRE, set lead time, and edit the assumptions box for each job. Export to PDF or Word and attach your standard terms and conditions. Keep a copy tied to the RFQ number so you can answer later questions about what was quoted.

**Bullets:**

- Always state the drawing revision the price is based on
- List NRE separately from unit price so it can be waived or amortized
- State the test scope (continuity, hipot, other) explicitly
- Note lead-time risks such as long-lead terminals or connectors

#### What belongs in the assumptions

**Body:** The assumptions box protects margin. Typical entries are the drawing revision, the quantities and delivery schedule priced, whether the customer supplies any material, the workmanship class, test scope, packaging, labeling and documentation requirements such as a certificate of conformance, and the material price validity period. If the RFQ has ambiguities, quote against your stated interpretation rather than staying silent, and list any clarifying questions you submitted.

#### Choosing price breaks

**Body:** Pick breaks where your cost curve actually moves: setup amortization, reel purchase breaks on terminals and wire, and test fixture reuse. The labor and price calculators on this site show how unit cost falls with quantity. Two or three breaks are usually enough. For blanket orders, state the release schedule and whether the lowest break applies to the annual total or to each release.

#### Common mistakes

**Body:** Omitting the revision, which lets a later revision be argued as included. Burying NRE in unit price on a low-volume order and then losing it when the customer cancels. Failing to state workmanship class when the customer drawing silently assumes a higher one. Quoting firm material prices for a long validity period in a volatile copper or connector market. Not stating that connector and terminal alternates require approval.

**Cta:** If your quotes are built in spreadsheets and re-keyed into ERP, we can look at generating quote documents and quote-to-order records from the same cost data.

**Faq:**

#### What should a wire harness quote include?

**Answer:** Customer part number and revision, quantity breaks with unit prices, NRE, lead time, workmanship standard, test scope, assumptions and exclusions, validity period and terms. Attach the drawing revision or BOM revision you priced against.

#### How long should a harness quote stay valid?

**Answer:** Commonly 30 days, shorter if copper, connector or terminal prices are volatile, longer when you can lock material. State the date and tie it to the quantities and delivery schedule quoted.

#### Should NRE be a separate line?

**Answer:** Usually yes. Fixtures, test program development and first article inspection are one-time costs. Separating them keeps unit price clean for comparison, lets the customer decide to pay up front or amortize, and protects you if the program is canceled.

#### Does the quote need the workmanship class?

**Answer:** Yes. IPC/WHMA-A-620 acceptance criteria differ by class, and cost changes with it. State the class you priced so inspection and rejection criteria are agreed before production.
