SyteLine Lot Tracking Configuration Guide

Lot tracking in Infor SyteLine enables full traceability from raw material receipt through finished goods shipment. Proper configuration of the item master, lot attributes, and transaction handling is essential for industries with regulatory traceability requirements. This guide walks through every configuration step using real SyteLine forms and IDOs.

Item Master Lot Configuration

Lot tracking begins on the Items form (SLItems IDO) where you enable the Lot Tracked flag on the item record. The item table stores the lot_tracked field along with shelf_life, lot_prefix, and lot_attr fields that control how lots behave throughout the system. You must also configure the default lot numbering sequence under Inventory Parameters.

  • Enable Lot Tracked on the Items form under the Warehouse tab for each applicable item
  • Configure lot_prefix and lot_attr1 through lot_attr10 on the item record for custom attributes
  • Set shelf_life and expiration_date_req flags for perishable or date-sensitive materials
  • Define lot numbering sequences in Inventory Parameters (SLInvParms IDO) for auto-generation
  • Use the Lot Attributes form to define custom attribute labels visible during transactions

Transaction Processing with Lots

Once lot tracking is enabled, all inventory transactions require lot selection or creation. The SLLots IDO manages lot master records while the SLSerLots IDO handles lot-to-transaction associations. Purchase receipts create new lots via the Material Receipts form, production orders consume and generate lots through the Job Material Transactions form, and sales orders allocate lots on the Customer Order Lines (coitem) table.

  • Material Receipts form auto-creates lot records when receiving lot-tracked items into inventory
  • Job Material Transactions (SLJobmatls IDO) enforce lot selection for issue and backflush operations
  • Customer Order picking respects lot allocation rules configured in Fulfillment Parameters
  • Transfer Orders maintain lot identity across warehouse and site transfers via the SLTransfers IDO
  • Cycle counts and physical inventory processes validate lot quantities against on-hand records

Lot Traceability and Reporting

SyteLine provides forward and backward traceability through the Lot Trace form. Forward trace follows a lot from receipt through every consuming transaction. Backward trace starts from a finished goods lot and identifies all component lots. The lot_trace stored procedure powers these queries against the matltran table for complete audit trails.

  • Forward trace identifies every customer order and job that consumed a specific raw material lot
  • Backward trace from a finished goods lot reveals all component lots used in production
  • The matltran table stores every inventory transaction with lot references for audit compliance
  • Lot Genealogy reports satisfy FDA 21 CFR Part 11 and ISO traceability requirements
  • Custom lot attributes enable quarantine holds, quality grades, and supplier certifications
