CloudApper AI TimeClock with Oracle Fusion Cloud HCM

CloudApper AI TimeClock (hrPad) turns iOS and Android tablets into shop-floor time clocks using face, QR, barcode or NFC identification. It connects to Oracle Cloud HCM, and Oracle Time and Labor stays the system of record for time cards. It suits plants that want kiosks without buying proprietary clock hardware.

How CloudApper AI TimeClock (hrPad) connects to Oracle Fusion Cloud HCM

Vendor connector to Oracle Cloud HCM

CloudApper documents a connector that sends punches captured on the tablet into Oracle Cloud HCM. Oracle Time and Labor remains the system of record, so pay rules, approvals and payroll transfer stay in Oracle. Confirm with CloudApper exactly which Oracle APIs and which time entry objects are used in your release.

Worker and location data from Oracle

Employees, assignments and departments come from Oracle HCM so the kiosk can validate who is punching and where. Department transfer and location validation happen on the tablet before the punch is posted.

Setting it up

  1. 1Agree the enrollment methodChoose face, QR, barcode or NFC per site, and check privacy rules for biometric capture in each country before enabling face.
  2. 2Prepare Oracle integration userCreate a dedicated integration user in Oracle Cloud HCM with only the roles needed for time entry, and store its credentials in the CloudApper tenant.
  3. 3Map workers and departmentsAlign the identifier on the badge or QR with the person number or badge number held in Oracle HCM.
  4. 4Define locations and geofencesRegister each kiosk location so location validation matches how Time and Labor groups work areas.
  5. 5Configure transfersSet which departments a worker may transfer into mid-shift, and match them to the time attributes Oracle expects.
  6. 6Pilot on one shiftRun the kiosk beside the existing clock for a pay period and compare punches against Time and Labor results.
  7. 7Roll out and train supervisorsShow supervisors how missed punches are corrected, and in which system the correction is made.

What usually breaks

  • !Badge or person number mismatches between the tablet roster and Oracle HCM cause punches to be rejected, usually for rehires and contractors.
  • !Tablets that lose Wi-Fi on the shop floor need an offline queue; confirm how late punches are timestamped before they reach Time and Labor.
  • !Department transfer values that do not exist as valid time attributes in Oracle produce errored entries that nobody sees until payroll.
  • !Shared tablets and face recognition have lighting, PPE and masks issues; test at each station, not only in the office.
  • !Oracle quarterly updates can change time entry behavior, so retest punch posting after each release.
  • !Biometric consent and retention rules vary by region and need an owner before go-live.

A private AI layer across both systems

Missed and errored punch triage

A private assistant reading the kiosk log and Oracle Time and Labor errors can list each rejected punch with the likely cause, such as a missing person number, and draft the correction for a supervisor to approve.

Plain-language labor questions

Supervisors ask who is clocked in by department, who transferred, and who has no punch today, answered from both systems without opening reports.

Exception patterns

Flag repeated late punches, long gaps between transfers, or kiosks with unusual reject rates, for HR review rather than automatic action.

When something else fits better

  • Oracle's own time collection devices and Oracle Time and Labor mobile entry may be enough if you only need web or phone punching.
  • A dedicated time clock vendor with a certified Oracle integration suits plants that want purpose-built hardware.
  • If punches must reconcile with MES labor reporting, check whether the MES can supply labor transactions instead.

Frequently asked questions

Does CloudApper replace Oracle Time and Labor?

No. CloudApper captures punches on tablets and sends them to Oracle Cloud HCM, where Oracle Time and Labor remains the system of record. Pay rules, approvals and the payroll transfer still run in Oracle. CloudApper is the collection layer on the shop floor, not the calculation engine.

What identification methods are supported?

The vendor lists face, QR code, barcode and NFC identification on iOS and Android tablets. Which you use depends on your floor conditions, privacy rules and whether workers wear gloves or masks. Pilot each method at the real station before deciding on a standard for the plant.

Can this run on-premises?

Oracle Fusion Cloud HCM is a cloud service, so the Oracle side is not on-prem. The tablets sit in your plant, but the punch data goes to the cloud. If your policy requires on-prem time data, look at an on-prem ERP and time system pairing instead.

Pairing documented at www.cloudapper.ai/ai-time-clock/oracle-hcm/time-clock-for-oracle-cloud-hcm/ . CloudApper AI TimeClock (hrPad) is a product of CloudApper; Netray is independent and not affiliated with either vendor.
