China ERP Selection Scorecard: Kingdee vs Yonyou vs SAP

Choosing between Kingdee, Yonyou and SAP for a China plant is not a question with one right answer. It depends on size, group IT policy, tax needs and budget. This scorecard gives your committee a transparent way to weigh those factors and to see where opinions differ.

The example scores are placeholders to show how the sheet works, not a ranking of the vendors. Replace every weight and score with your own evidence from demos, reference calls and proposals. Add Inspur or other vendors by copying the column pattern in Excel after export.

Optional. The tool and every export work without this. No spam.

How to use the scorecard

First agree the criteria and weights as a committee before looking at any vendor demo. Weights should add up to 100. Then score each vendor from 1 (poor) to 5 (strong) using evidence: scripted demos, reference calls, written proposals and pilot results. The sheet multiplies weight by score to produce a weighted result per criterion and totals each column out of 5. Edit rows freely, add your own criteria and export to Excel to share.

  • Set weights before vendor presentations
  • Score from evidence, not impressions
  • Let each committee member score alone first
  • Compare differences and discuss them

Typical criteria for China manufacturers

Local tax integration is usually decisive: the ERP must create vouchers and issue fapiao through the tax invoicing platform without manual re-keying. Beyond that, compare manufacturing depth, multi-entity consolidation, fit with parent company reporting, partner coverage, five-year cost, openness for integration and data residency. Foreign-owned plants often weight parent alignment higher, while domestic firms weight local support and cost higher.

Reading the result

The totals show a weighted score out of 5, and the summary rows show the gap between vendors. A gap under about 0.3 is within the noise of subjective scoring, so treat it as a tie and decide on cost, risk or partner quality. Run a sensitivity check by changing the top two weights by five points each; if the winner changes, your decision is fragile and needs more evidence.

Common mistakes

Teams let vendors define the criteria, give equal weights to everything, score on demos of standard flows instead of their hardest process, and ignore implementation partner quality, which often matters more than product. Also remember that total cost should include licences or subscription, implementation, customization, interfaces, training and internal staff time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which is better for China, Kingdee, Yonyou or SAP?

None is better in general. Kingdee and Yonyou are strong on local tax and cost for many domestic firms, while SAP often wins where the parent group already runs SAP. Your own weights and evidence decide, which is why this sheet exists.

Should Inspur be in the comparison?

It can be. Inspur offers ERP products used by many Chinese enterprises. To add it, export the sheet to Excel, copy a score column and its weighted column, and rename them. Keep the same scoring rules for every vendor.

How many criteria should I use?

Between 8 and 15 is practical. Fewer misses important areas, and more makes weights meaningless. Group minor items under a broader criterion. Every criterion should be something you can test in a demo, reference call or proposal.

Can this replace a formal RFP?

No. It supports scoring after you gather information. A formal RFP, scripted demos and reference checks provide the evidence behind each number, and your procurement and legal teams should run the commercial process.

If you need help turning your hardest processes into scripted demo scenarios, or comparing proposals line by line, Netray and its ERP partners can assist. We are not a reseller of any of these products.
