Free tool for Oracle NetSuite
NetSuite Integration and EDI Designer
Pick the business objects and the systems you need to connect, and get a NetSuite integration inventory that names the real interface for each flow: SuiteTalk REST web services records such as salesOrder, itemFulfillment and invoice, SuiteQL through the REST query service, RESTlets, CSV import or SuiteAnalytics Connect. Switch to EDI mode to see how X12 850, 855, 856 and 810 (and the EDIFACT equivalents) map to NetSuite records and REST field IDs, since EDI in NetSuite runs through a third-party EDI provider rather than a delivered translator.

Integration inventory
NetSuite is multi-tenant SaaS with no database access, so every integration goes through SuiteTalk REST web services (records and SuiteQL), RESTlets, SuiteScript, CSV import or read-only SuiteAnalytics Connect. Oracle plans to disable all SOAP web services endpoints with the 2028.2 release, and from 2026.1 new integrations should use REST with OAuth 2.0. Throughput is capped by the account Integration Concurrency Limit, set by service tier and SuiteCloud Plus licenses.
Your inventory appears here
Exports include the inventory, rationale, field maps with your target names, selected EDI maps and risks. No sign-in needed.
How to use it
- 1
Pick the objects
Select the business objects in scope, such as customers, items, sales orders and item fulfillments.
- 2
Add the target systems
For each object choose the system on the other side, the direction seen from NetSuite and how often it must move.
- 3
Read the inventory
Each row names the NetSuite interface (REST record, SuiteQL query, RESTlet, script or CSV import), why it fits and what to watch for.
- 4
Check the field map
Open the starter map for an object, fill in the target field names and note the keys and required fields.
- 5
Export or save
Download the design as PDF, Excel, Word or CSV, save it to your account, or send it to an engineer for review.
NetSuite interfaces in this tool
- SuiteTalk REST web services (record service) synchronous
- CRUD on records at /services/rest/record/v1/{recordType}, for example POST /salesOrder. A create returns HTTP 204 with the new record URL in the Location header. PUT on /{recordType}/eid:{externalId} upserts, POST /{type}/{id}/!transform/{targetType} transforms (sales order to item fulfillment or invoice), and Prefer: respond-async runs any request as an async job.
- SuiteQL over REST (query service) synchronous
- POST /services/rest/query/v1/suiteql with header Prefer: transient and the query in q; limit and offset page the results. Returns at most 100,000 results per query. Since 2026.2 anonymous bound parameters (? with a params array) are supported. Use it for polling changed records and for reads that span several record types.
- RESTlets (SuiteScript 2.1) synchronous
- Custom SuiteScript endpoints with get, post, put and delete entry points, called at the External URL on the script deployment (account-specific domain under restlets.api.netsuite.com). Use one when a single call must create several linked records or apply logic the REST record service does not expose. Each call is limited to 5,000 usage units.
- User event script with N/https (outbound push) asynchronous
- NetSuite has no delivered message bus. An afterSubmit user event script runs after a record is written from the UI, REST or SOAP web services, CSV import or server SuiteScript and can call an external endpoint with N/https (TLS 1.2 required). User event scripts are limited to 1,000 usage units and cannot trigger other user event scripts, so keep the call small or hand off to a map/reduce script.
- Map/reduce or scheduled script (batch, N/sftp) asynchronous
- Server scripts processed by SuiteCloud Processors for bulk work: read with SuiteQL or saved searches, write files with N/file and move them with N/sftp, or call an external API in parallel. Scheduled scripts are limited to 10,000 usage units per run; map/reduce is governed per stage invocation. Processor count depends on SuiteCloud Plus licenses.
- CSV import asynchronous
- Delivered file import for master data and many transactions, with saved field mappings. Records created this way run user event scripts like any other write. Good for loads and low-frequency feeds; CSV import queues and threads grow with SuiteCloud Plus licenses.
- SuiteTalk SOAP web services (legacy) synchronous
- The older WSDL-based API. 2025.2 is the last planned SOAP endpoint; from 2027.1 no new SOAP integrations can be built, and with 2028.2 all SOAP endpoints are disabled and SOAP integrations stop working. Plan existing SOAP flows onto REST or RESTlets.
- SuiteAnalytics Connect (NetSuite2.com) asynchronous
- Read-only ODBC, JDBC and ADO.NET access to the NetSuite2.com (analytics) data source for warehouses and BI. The older NetSuite.com data source is no longer available as of 2026.1. It cannot update NetSuite data; the Connect Service must be enabled for the account.
- NetSuite Connector asynchronous
- Oracle's packaged connector for storefronts, marketplaces, POS and 3PLs. The Help Center lists Amazon, eBay, Loop Returns, Magento 2, Oracle Simphony, Shopify and Square Connector. Set up with token-based authentication and order and product syncs.
- Third-party EDI provider asynchronous
- The Help Center SuiteApps list has no Oracle X12 or EDIFACT translator. An EDI provider (often installed as a SuiteApp from the SuiteApp Marketplace) translates partner documents and creates or reads NetSuite records through REST, RESTlets or CSV import. Mapping rules live with the provider.
- Inbound ASN Automation SuiteApp asynchronous
- Creates inbound shipment records from vendor advance ship notices imported through CSV or web services, with overage tolerances at company, vendor and item level and an approve or reject review.
Questions
Should a new NetSuite integration use REST, SOAP or a RESTlet?
REST web services for record CRUD and SuiteQL, a RESTlet when one call must run custom logic or post several linked records. Do not start new work on SOAP: Oracle states that from 2026.1 new integrations should use REST with OAuth 2.0, from 2027.1 new SOAP integrations cannot be built, and with 2028.2 all SOAP endpoints are disabled.
When does NetSuite SOAP web services stop working?
With the 2028.2 release all SOAP endpoints are disabled and SOAP integrations stop working. 2025.2 is the last planned SOAP endpoint, from 2027.2 only the latest endpoint is supported, and each release disables the oldest unsupported endpoint. Inventory your SOAP flows now and move them to REST or RESTlets.
Can I still use token-based authentication (TBA)?
Existing TBA integrations keep working, but with 2027.1 you cannot build new integrations on TBA. OAuth 2.0 is the preferred method for REST web services and RESTlets, and the Help Center documents a client credentials setup for machine-to-machine integrations. SOAP does not support OAuth 2.0 and requires TBA, so the 2027.1 TBA cutoff also ends new SOAP integrations.
How many API calls can run at once in NetSuite?
The account Integration Concurrency Limit covers SOAP, REST and RESTlet requests together. It is 5 on Standard tier with no SuiteCloud Plus license, 15 on Premium, and 20 on Enterprise and Ultimate, rising by 10 per SuiteCloud Plus license up to the tier maximum. Size every integration, including the EDI provider and connectors, against this one shared limit.
How do I get changes out of NetSuite without a message bus?
Either poll with SuiteQL for records modified since the last run, or push from an afterSubmit user event script with N/https. User event scripts run for UI, web services and CSV import writes but are limited to 1,000 usage units, so push only the record ID and let middleware read the record, or queue the work to a map/reduce script.
How do I stop duplicate orders when the source system retries?
Set externalId to the source key and create with PUT /record/v1/{type}/eid:{externalId}, which updates the record if it exists and creates it if it does not. For long requests, Prefer: respond-async runs the call as a job you can poll, and async processing supports an idempotency key for retries.
Does NetSuite have native EDI?
No delivered X12 or EDIFACT translator is listed among NetSuite SuiteApps. EDI runs through a third-party provider that creates sales orders and vendor bills and reads fulfillments and invoices through REST, RESTlets or CSV import. The Inbound ASN Automation SuiteApp can turn imported vendor ASNs into inbound shipment records.
How often does NetSuite upgrade, and does it break integrations?
NetSuite delivers two scheduled version upgrades a year (2026.2 is current) plus monthly releases in between. REST record URLs are versioned (record/v1) and SOAP integrations pin a WSDL endpoint, but scripts and custom fields still need regression tests in a sandbox or release preview account before each upgrade.
