Short answer
IFS Cloud releases are named by year and half, such as 22R1 and 23R2, with service updates between feature releases. Solution sets are packaged industry or regional content layered on the core product, for example for aerospace and defense, Europe-specific needs or service industries. To see which version you run, use the About information in the client or ask your administrator for the installed release and update level.
Applies to: IFS Cloud 21R1 onward. Cadence and support windows are set by IFS and can change, so check the current lifecycle policy before planning upgrades.
How to check what you run
- 1Open the About or version information in the Aurena client and note the release and update level.
- 2Ask your administrator or hosting partner for the installed release, service update and the list of installed solution sets.
- 3Compare the release against IFS's lifecycle and support dates to see how long it remains supported.
- 4Record the version in your environment inventory for every test, pre-production and production system.
- 5Before any upgrade, list your customizations, integrations and reports to scope regression testing.
How release names work
The first two digits are the year and R1 or R2 the first or second feature release of that year, so 23R2 is the second release of 2023. Service updates deliver fixes and smaller enhancements between those releases. Always quote both when you raise a support case, since behavior can differ by service update.
Older IFS Applications versions such as 9 and 10 used a different naming and upgrade model. Our upgrade decision page covers moving from those to IFS Cloud.
Solution sets
A solution set is a packaged set of industry, country or sector functionality built on the same platform. Names such as one for aerospace and defense, one for European requirements or one for service industries describe the content an installation includes. They are not separate products, and which ones you have depends on your contract and installation.
When reading documentation, check that a feature belongs to the core product or to a solution set you actually own. That avoids planning around functionality you cannot use.
THOR, DEHC and similar labels
We cannot document THOR or DEHC as public IFS Cloud release names or standard solution sets. Labels like these are usually internal codenames, environment names, project names or customer-specific identifiers. Ask whoever used the term, or look in your own environment inventory and your IFS or partner documentation, before assuming it means a product version.
The reliable identifiers are the release number, the service update and the installed solution sets.

Common pitfalls
- !Raising a support case with only the release and no service update.
- !Assuming every solution set feature is available in your installation.
- !Treating internal environment names as product versions.
- !Planning an upgrade without checking the current support window.
- !Forgetting to list integrations and reports when scoping an upgrade.
How an ERP-grounded AI assistant handles this
Keeping track of environments, releases and customizations across systems is a good fit for a private assistant that reads your own inventory documents and read-only IFS metadata. It can list which environments are on which release and which customizations touch changed areas, on your own servers and without sending configuration data outside.
Frequently asked questions
What does 24R2 mean in IFS Cloud?
It is the second feature release of 2024. The R number indicates the half of the year the release belongs to, and service updates follow it.
Is IFS Cloud a single version or a family?
It is one product line with regular releases. Everyone moves through the same release series, with service updates in between, rather than choosing among separate editions.
What is an IFS Cloud solution set?
It is a packaged set of industry, regional or sector content delivered on the IFS Cloud platform, for example for aerospace and defense or service industries. What you can use depends on your agreement.
How often should we upgrade?
Stay inside the supported window and plan regular updates, because large jumps carry more testing work. The right pace depends on your customizations, integrations and staff capacity, so base it on your risk and IFS's lifecycle policy.

Should We Upgrade from IFS Applications 10 to IFS Cloud?
For most IFS Applications 10 customers the question is not whether to move to IFS Cloud but when and how, because vendor support and new functionality are concentrated in IFS Cloud. The real cost is rarely the platform itself; it is customisations, integrations, reports and the retirement of the desktop client, so scope those first.
How-toIFS Cloud Workflow Example, External File Templates, Update Analyzer and PO Status
Treat IFS Cloud configuration as a set of building blocks: workflows or business events to react to changes, external file templates to load or send flat files, an update analysis step to check what a release will touch in your customizations, and the supported database views for reading data such as purchase order status. This page shows how each fits together with a worked approval example.
AdvancedIFS Cloud Integration Options: Projections, Connect, Events and a MES Example
IFS Cloud offers four main integration routes. Projections expose data and actions as OData services for request and response, IFS Connect handles message-based and file-based exchange with transformation, business events push notifications out when data changes, and workflows orchestrate steps. For a MES, the common pattern is orders and BOMs out by projection or event, and confirmations and quantities back in through a projection or a message.
How-toIFS Cloud REST API Documentation: Projections, OData and How to Explore Them
IFS Cloud APIs are projections served as OData v4 REST services. General product documentation is published by IFS, but the authoritative description of the API for your environment comes from the environment itself: the projection metadata document and the API exploration tools in the client. Authenticate with a token from IFS IAM, then read entity sets with standard OData query options.
Error fixIFS Cloud: Unable to Save, Internal Server Error and Quick Report Problems
In IFS Cloud a save failure or internal server error is almost always a server-side exception returned through the projection the page calls. Read the error detail, reproduce it in the browser network tab, then check the middleware and database logs for the real cause, which is typically a business rule, a missing permission, a bad customization or a stale cache. Quick Report problems are usually a missing permission grant or mismatched bind parameters.
How-toIFS Cloud Report Designer, Quick Reports and Crystal Reports: Which to Use
IFS Cloud has several reporting routes. Use Quick Reports for fast read-only lists of data, the report designer route for formatted operational documents such as order confirmations and pick lists, legacy Crystal-based layouts only where you already have them, and the analytical tools for dashboards. Report rules then control when and how a report is produced and sent.
