JDE Package Build and Deployment Request Template

Most JDE production incidents after a deployment trace back to a missing object, a skipped test or no way to roll back. A one-page request form forces those questions before the build, not after.

Starting point. Adapt it to your path codes, release process and change control policy. Names and dates shown are examples.

Change control review

Optional: a short review of your JDE change and deployment process.

Optional. The tool and every export work without this. No spam.

How to use it

Fill in the fields, list every object, and export the document to PDF or Word for the change board. Attach test evidence. The checklist tables are printed blank so the people doing the work can initial them as they go.

Why these sections

Listing objects makes the package contents reviewable. The back-out plan makes the team consider rollback time before the window starts. Verification steps define done in advance, so the deployment is not declared a success just because the build finished.

  • Include specification changes to tables explicitly.
  • Note any required data or processing option changes.
  • State which servers receive the package.

Common mistakes

Promoting objects without their dependencies, deploying while long batch jobs are running, and testing only the happy path. Ask who owns each dependency and when the next scheduled UBEs start, then choose the window around them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this form specific to a JDE release?

No. It is a process document that works for any release. Adapt the object types and checks to your tools release and path code structure.

Who should approve the request?

Typically the functional owner, the CNC administrator and the change manager. Your change policy decides who signs for production.

Should I attach test evidence?

Yes. Screenshots or logs from the lower environment show what was tested and make audits easier.

How long should the back-out plan take?

State your actual estimate after practicing it. A plan that has never been rehearsed often takes longer than assumed.
