Katana MRP Integrations and the MRPeasy REST API

Question
katana mrp integrations

Also searched as

  • katana erp integration
  • mrpeasy shopify integration
  • mrpeasy rest api
  • katana api integration custom

Short answer

Katana and MRPeasy both offer native connectors for common sales channels and accounting systems, plus a REST API for everything else. Use the native connector for orders and stock sync, and the API for custom reports, ERP links and missing fields. Always check which direction each connector syncs and what it ignores.

Applies to: Katana Cloud Inventory/MRP and MRPeasy cloud; connector lists change, so confirm current options on each vendor's integrations page

How to choose and set up an integration

  1. 1List the data flows you need: sales orders in, stock levels out, invoices to accounting, shipments back to the store.
  2. 2Check each vendor's integrations page for a native connector covering that flow, and read what it syncs and in which direction.
  3. 3Enable the native connector in the integration settings, using the store or accounting credentials, and run a test order end to end.
  4. 4For missing flows, request an API key from the vendor account settings and read the API documentation.
  5. 5Build the custom piece as a small service or an iPaaS flow, authenticating with the key, with retry and a log of every call.
  6. 6Respect rate limits: Katana in particular throttles requests, so batch and back off. See the rate limit page.
  7. 7Reconcile monthly: compare stock, order counts and invoice totals between systems.

Native connectors first

For e-commerce, both tools target Shopify and similar stores, bringing sales orders into the MRP and sending available stock back. Accounting connectors, such as Xero or QuickBooks, typically push sales and purchase invoices so the ledger stays in the accounting tool.

Native connectors are the cheapest to run but make assumptions. They may sync only certain order states, ignore bundles or variants, or not handle partial shipments. Test those cases before you rely on them.

When to use the REST API

Use the API for what the connectors do not cover: pushing orders from a B2B portal, exporting costed manufacturing orders to a BI tool, creating items from a PLM, or reading stock into a warehouse system. MRPeasy documents a REST API authenticated with an API key and secret from its settings; Katana documents a REST API with a bearer token.

Both are suited to modest volumes. If you move many thousands of records, plan batching and incremental syncs using modified-since filters where offered, rather than full re-reads.

Design for failure

Every integration drifts. Orders arrive twice, a SKU is renamed or a webhook is missed. Make operations idempotent by storing the external order ID, log each attempt and alert on failure. A daily reconciliation job pays for itself the first time stock disagrees.

Common pitfalls

  • !Assuming stock sync is two-way when it only pushes from the MRP to the store.
  • !SKU mismatches between the store and the MRP, creating orphan lines.
  • !Running full re-syncs against an API with a strict rate limit.
  • !Sharing one API key across several integrations so nobody knows which one is failing.
  • !No monthly reconciliation of stock and invoices.

How an ERP-grounded AI assistant handles this

A private assistant can read order and stock exports from both sides, spot SKUs or orders that exist in one system but not the other, and explain the likely cause. Run on your own server, it does this without giving a public service access to your sales and inventory data.

Frequently asked questions

Does Katana integrate with Shopify?

Katana lists native integrations for e-commerce stores, including Shopify. Check the current integrations page for which order states and inventory directions it supports before depending on it.

Does MRPeasy have a REST API?

Yes, MRPeasy provides a REST API, enabled from the account settings, with credentials generated there. Use the vendor documentation to see which objects it exposes in your plan.

Can I connect Katana to another ERP?

Usually through the API or an integration platform. Define which system owns inventory, then sync orders and stock in a single direction to avoid conflicts.

What breaks integrations most often?

SKU or variant mismatches, duplicate deliveries of the same order, and rate limits. Idempotent writes, logging and a regular reconciliation address most of them.

Error fix

Fix Katana API 429 Too Many Requests

HTTP 429 from the Katana public API means your integration exceeded the per-key request allowance for the current time window. Fix it by honoring the retry headers, backing off with jitter, paging with the largest allowed page size, caching reference data such as products and variants, and replacing polling loops with scheduled incremental syncs.

Error fix

Fix Katana and Shopify Inventory Not Syncing

When Katana and Shopify disagree on stock, the cause is almost always a SKU mismatch, a location mapping problem, or a misunderstanding of which system owns the number. Katana pushes available stock to Shopify by matching variants on SKU, so fix the SKUs and the location settings first, then force a resync.

MRPeasy Materials Shortage: Plan Purchases Correctly

MRPeasy compares the demand from customer orders and manufacturing orders with available stock, booked stock and open purchase orders, and flags what is short. To act on it, review the shortages, confirm item lead times and minimum stock levels, then create purchase or manufacturing orders and re-check planned dates.

How-to

How to Compare Planned vs Actual Cost in MRPeasy

MRPeasy builds a planned cost from the bill of materials, routing and rates, then records actual cost as materials are consumed and work is reported on the manufacturing order. To find a variance, compare the two on the order itself and then drill into material price, quantity used, and time booked.

How to Create a Generic Inquiry in Acumatica

Generic Inquiries (GI) are Acumatica's no-code query builder for joining tables, adding filters, and exposing the result as an inquiry screen, dashboard data source, or API endpoint. Open System > Customization > Generic Inquiry, add your base table, define joins and conditions, then run and save. No SQL or customization project is required.

Error fix

Fix Odoo AccessError: You Are Not Allowed to Access Records

Odoo raises AccessError when a user's security groups do not grant a CRUD right on a model through ir.model.access.csv, or when an ir.rule record rule filters the specific record out for that user or company. Fix it by adding the user to the group named in the error, editing the model's access rights, or reviewing the record rule's domain under Settings > Technical > Security.
