ERP Cost of Ownership Model
Epicor Kinetic ERP pricing and 5-year cost of ownership model
Epicor does not publish Kinetic prices, so this model takes the numbers from your own Epicor quote or renewal. Enter concurrent users by license type, the Epicor Cloud package (Select, Signature or Enterprise) or your on-premises license and maintenance, SQL Server and hosting, and an implementation scope built from the Kinetic Operations and Financials cores, industry bundles and optional business applications. It returns a year-by-year table, a cloud versus on-premises comparison that accounts for the 2028.1 final on-premises feature release, and the lines that drive the total.

Users by type
How many people and connections you license, by the user types that matter in Epicor Kinetic.
People who work in Kinetic all day across sales, purchasing, jobs, inventory and finance. Concurrent licenses are not tied to a device or a named user: when one user exits, another can log in.
Web Licenses and Office Licenses listed among Kinetic concurrent user license types. Confirm with Epicor which screens each type covers before you size it.
Data Collection Bundle Licenses for labor and material reporting on the shop floor. Check with Epicor whether MES, kiosk or tablet users fall under this type in your quote.
Mobile CRM Licenses for field sales and Time and Expense Management Licenses for people who only enter time and expenses.
Starting counts are a sample company size so the effort model shows hours straight away. Replace them with yours.

What to check in a Epicor Kinetic quote
- Concurrent licensing: you license peak simultaneous logins per license type, not head count. Measure peak logins before you negotiate, and keep shop floor users on Data Collection licenses where the work fits.
- Cloud package: Select, Signature and Enterprise differ in environments, a read-only database copy, upgrade deferral (none, 90 days, 18 months) and support plan (Essential or Pro). Price the package you actually need for testing and reporting.
- Bundles versus components: bundle components are mostly not sold separately, while existing customers who have not moved to bundles through a cloud conversion can still buy individual components. Compare the bundle price with the components you use today.
- Optional applications (CPQ, Epicor Data Analytics, FP&A, Advanced MES, Automation Studio, Epicor ECM) are separate lines. Price each one you scope.
- Release cadence: from May 2026 Kinetic moved from semi-annual releases to a monthly CI/CD cadence. Budget recurring regression testing of BPMs, Functions, Application Studio layers and reports, not one big upgrade.
- Smart Client retirement: 2025.2 is the last release that supports the Smart Client and Classic Forms retire in May 2026. Price conversion of classic customizations and dashboards to the browser as customization hours.
- On-premises horizon: the final on-premises feature release is 2028.1 with Sustaining Support from January 1, 2030. Include a cloud migration (for example the fixed-fee Ascend with Epicor program) in any 5-year on-premises scenario.
- Training: an Epicor Learning license gives the full Epicor Learning Center catalog; essential courses are free. Instructor-led training from Epicor Professional Services is a separate cost.

Epicor Kinetic licensing explained
In words, from vendor documentation. Follow the source links before you rely on a point in a negotiation.
Concurrent user licenses
Epicor sells Kinetic users as concurrent licenses that are not tied to a device or a named user. The bundles page lists these license types: Concurrent User Licenses, Data Collection Bundle Licenses, Mobile CRM Licenses, Time and Expense Management Licenses, Web Licenses and Office Licenses.
SourcePlatform cores
A cloud Kinetic purchase starts with a Platform Core: Kinetic Operations Core (CRM, production, scheduling, sales, supply chain, quality assurance, MRP, purchasing, job management, engineering, order management, estimate and quote management and more) and Kinetic Financials Core (AP, AR, GL, advanced allocations, deferred revenue accounting, lockbox, ACH and more). A core is a required prerequisite for industry bundles.
SourceEpicor Cloud packages
Epicor Cloud Select: Kinetic SaaS on Microsoft Azure, Production, Pilot and Education environments, in-region disaster recovery, daily backups kept 30 days, monthly updates, bi-annual upgrades with a 30-day testing window and the Essential Support Plan. Cloud Signature adds 2 environments, a read-only copy of the live database and deferral of upgrades up to 90 days. Cloud Enterprise adds isolated Azure architecture, up to 10 environments within storage limits, deferral of annual upgrades up to 18 months and the Pro Support Plan.
SourceIndustry bundles
Bundles add licensed capability on top of a core: Advanced Manufacturing (Planning by Revision, Advanced Production, Advanced UOM, APS, Enhanced Quality Assurance), Advanced Supply Chain, Project, Multi-National, Assets and Fabrication. Epicor says bundle components are, with a few exceptions, not licensed separately; existing customers who have not moved to the bundles through a cloud conversion can still buy individual components; and a Fabrication bundle can later be upgraded to Advanced Manufacturing through a trade-in.
SourceOptional business applications
Separately licensed applications include Epicor CPQ, Embedded Configurator, Epicor Commerce, Epicor Data Analytics, Epicor Data Discovery, FP&A, Epicor Tax Connect, Advanced MES, Epicor IoT, Epicor QMS, Product Lifecycle Management, Automation Studio, Epicor Integration Cloud, Wireless Warehouse, Supplier Portal, Epicor EDI, Multi-site Management and Additional Office User Licenses.
SourceFinal on-premises feature release
In January 2026 Epicor announced that future Kinetic innovation moves to the Epicor Cloud. The final on-premises release is 2028.1, tentatively January 2028, with Active Support for 2028.1 through December 31, 2029 and Sustaining Support from January 1, 2030.
SourceEpicor Prism outcomes-based pricing
Epicor describes Prism Business Communications, an AI agent for RFQ workflows inside Kinetic, as priced on outcomes: you pay when RFQs convert to purchase orders. Other Prism capabilities may be priced differently; ask Epicor.

How to use the Epicor Kinetic cost model
- 1
Count concurrent users by license type
Kinetic cloud bundles are sold as concurrent user licenses, so count peak simultaneous logins, not head count. Split them into full users, web and Office users, data collection (shop floor) users, and Mobile CRM or Time and Expense users.
- 2
Enter the quotes you have
Type the subscription per user per month from your Epicor Cloud quote, and the license and annual maintenance percent if you run or are pricing on-premises. Add the cloud package, industry bundles and optional applications (CPQ, Epicor Data Analytics, Advanced MES) as separate lines if your quote shows them that way.
- 3
Add infrastructure for self-managed options
For on-premises or partner hosting, enter servers, Microsoft SQL Server licensing, backup and disaster recovery from your own invoices or provider quotes. Epicor Cloud runs on Microsoft Azure and includes environments, backups and updates, so leave those empty there.
- 4
Scope the implementation
Pick the Kinetic areas in scope and set sites or companies, integrations (REST API, EDI, Automation Studio), customizations (BPM directives, Epicor Functions, Application Studio layers, UD fields) and DMT data migration objects. Adjust hours and the blended rate to match your Epicor Professional Services or partner estimate.
- 5
Read the drivers and test the range
Check the training, upgrade testing and customization lines, use the sensitivity sliders to see how the 5-year total moves with license, effort and rate, then export the model or save it to your account.
Epicor Kinetic pricing and licensing questions
What is Epicor Kinetic?
Epicor Kinetic is Epicor's ERP for discrete, make-to-order and process manufacturers. Epicor sells it mainly as cloud ERP on Microsoft Azure, with on-premises and hybrid deployments still supported. It covers financials, sales and CRM, supply chain, production and job management, planning and scheduling, quality, service and project management, with a browser user experience and low-code tools such as Application Studio, BPM and BAQs.
How much does Epicor Kinetic ERP cost?
Epicor does not publish Kinetic list prices. The price depends on the Platform Core, the Epicor Cloud package (Select, Signature or Enterprise), the number and type of concurrent users, industry bundles, optional applications such as CPQ, and your negotiation. This model does not guess a price: enter the figures from your quote and it builds the 5-year total around them.
How are Epicor Kinetic users licensed?
Kinetic users are concurrent licenses, not named users: a license is not tied to a device or person, and when one user exits another can log in. Epicor lists Concurrent User, Data Collection Bundle, Mobile CRM, Time and Expense Management, Web and Office license types.
What do the Epicor Cloud Select, Signature and Enterprise packages include?
Select includes Kinetic SaaS on Azure with Production, Pilot and Education environments, in-region disaster recovery, 30 days of daily backups, monthly updates, bi-annual upgrades with a 30-day testing window and the Essential Support Plan. Signature adds two environments, a read-only copy of the live database and up to 90 days of upgrade deferral. Enterprise adds isolated Azure architecture, up to 10 environments, up to 18 months of upgrade deferral and the Pro Support Plan.
Can I still run Epicor Kinetic on-premises?
Yes, for now. Epicor announced in January 2026 that the final on-premises Kinetic feature release is 2028.1, tentatively January 2028, with Active Support through December 31, 2029 and Sustaining Support from January 1, 2030. New features after that go to the Epicor Cloud only, so a 5-year on-premises plan should include the cost of a later cloud move.
How often is Kinetic updated?
Kinetic had two major releases a year (for example 2025.1 and 2025.2). Starting with release 2026.100 in May 2026, Epicor moved to a monthly CI/CD cadence with smaller increments. Cloud Signature and Enterprise packages let you defer upgrades, which changes how often you pay for regression testing.
What does Epicor training cost in a Kinetic budget?
Epicor Learning includes the Epicor Learning Center (videos, courses and learning paths), the in-product Help and Support Panel and an AI Knowledge Agent. Customers with an Epicor Learning license get the full catalog, essential courses are free, and instructor-led training is delivered by Epicor Professional Services. Enter the license and any instructor-led days from your quote.
How accurate is this model?
The arithmetic is exact for the numbers you enter. The default effort hours are planning assumptions, not benchmarks, so replace them with your Epicor or partner estimate when you have one. Ask an engineer to review the result if you are using it for a budget or a cloud versus on-premises decision.
