Dynamics GP Third-Party Add-On Inventory Worksheet
Add-ons are where most Dynamics GP migrations get surprised. This worksheet gives each ISV product, in-house dictionary and integration a row, a disposition and an effort estimate so the true scope shows up early.
| Add-on / dictionary | Vendor | Business area | Users | Annual maintenance | Disposition | Effort (days) | Day rate | Migration cost | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
$3,600 | |||||||||
$12,000 | |||||||||
$21,600 | |||||||||
$30,000 | |||||||||

Find your list under Tools > Setup > System > Product in GP, then compare with the Dynamics.set launch file and dictionary folders. Day rates are placeholders.
Add-on replacement review
Optional: send your list for an outside view on replace, rebuild or retire decisions.
Optional. The tool and every export work without this. No spam.
How to fill it in
Start from the Product list in GP and the dictionaries loaded through the Dynamics.set file, then add anything outside GP such as SQL jobs, SmartList Builder reports and Integration Manager maps. Record users and annual maintenance so you can see which products are worth replacing. Set disposition honestly: TBD is a valid answer, and the count of TBD rows is a risk indicator.
- Include in-house dictionaries
- Include scripts and jobs outside GP
- Record real maintenance cost
- Revisit TBD rows weekly
Choosing a disposition
Business Central standard features cover more than many GP sites expect, such as bank reconciliation, basic approvals and dimensions. Use an AppSource app where a vendor offers one and rebuild as an extension only when the process is a real differentiator. Retire anything used by one person once a year.
Reading the totals
Total effort in days is a planning number, not a quote. Multiply it by your partner day rate to size the budget, and add testing time. If a few rows account for most of the effort, those are the ones to decide first.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where do I find installed GP add-ons?
In GP, check Tools > Setup > System > Product, the launch file Dynamics.set, and the dictionary files in the GP install folder. Also ask finance for tools they run outside GP.
Do SmartList Builder reports count?
Yes. They are customisations and often hold business logic. List them, or group them by business area with a count.
How do I estimate effort for a rebuild?
Use days per customised window or report from past projects, then add testing. Treat early numbers as ranges until a developer reviews the code.
Why record the number of users?
Users reveal value. A tool with annual maintenance and one user is a candidate to retire.
If you want the inventory built from the GP dictionaries and SQL objects directly, we can discuss tooling for that.
