Practice in a test or training company, never in production. Session codes and names follow the Infor LN 10.7 online help. Names and some codes differ in other LN releases and in Baan IV or Baan 5, so if a session is missing in your version, search the LN help for your release.

Questions

Where do I find official Infor LN training?

Infor delivers LN training through Infor U Campus. The LN catalog has instructor-led and self-directed courses such as LN Cloud: Navigation and Session Personalization, LN Cloud: Configuring Sales Order Management, LN Cloud: Configuring Warehousing, LN: Administering the LN System for the Cloud and LN: Extensibility and Programming Foundation. Course descriptions and schedules require a Campus login.

Is there an Infor LN user guide?

Yes. The LN online help on docs.infor.com has a topic for every session, titled with its name and code, for example Sales Orders (tdsls4100m000), plus process overviews. It is published per release, including 10.x and the 2023.x and 2026.x releases.

What is an LN session code?

Each LN screen is a session with a code such as tdsls4100m000: package (td, Order Management), module (sls, Sales), a four-digit number, then a type letter and variant (m000 for most overview sessions, s000 for many details sessions). Learning the package and module prefixes (tc Common, td Order Management, wh Warehousing, ti Manufacturing, cp Enterprise Planning, tf Financials, tt Tools) makes any session easy to place.

Is Infor LN the same as Baan?

LN is the successor of Baan. SSA Global acquired Baan in 2003 and released SSA ERP LN 6.1 in 2005; Infor acquired SSA in 2006. LN keeps the Baan structure of packages, modules, sessions and the 4GL Tools environment, but many sessions, numbers and flows have changed, so Baan users should relearn their daily processes against the LN help for their release.

What should an LN beginner learn first?

Start with session codes, changing company, the overview and details pattern, filters, printing and the Items and Business Partners master data. Then learn the sessions of your area, for example Sales Orders (tdsls4100m000), Release Sales Orders to Warehousing (tdsls4246m000) and Shipments (whinh4130m000) for order to cash.

What does an LN developer need to learn?

The Tools data dictionary (packages, sessions, forms, reports, tables and domains), 4GL program scripts and DAL scripts, VRCs and convert to runtime, LN Studio, extensions, Report Designer, and integration through BODs, ION and REST APIs.

How long does it take to learn Infor LN?

It depends on the role and modules. Use the builder: an end user with two modules is a few weeks at a few hours a week; a functional consultant covering ten modules with advanced lessons is several times that. The plan shows total hours and a finish date for your choices.

Can I practice in my production LN company?

No. Use a test or training company. Many lessons post transactions, run planning or change authorizations, which you do not want in production.
