Practice in a test or training tenant, never in production. Program codes and names follow the Infor M3 Business Engine documentation. Names can differ slightly by version, language and localization, so if a name does not match, press Ctrl+R in H5 and search by the program code.

Questions

Where do I find official Infor M3 training?

Infor delivers M3 training through Infor Campus. The M3 catalog lists instructor-led courses such as M3 Cloud: Navigation Fundamentals, M3 Cloud: Configuring Customer Orders, M3 Cloud: Processing Purchase Orders, M3 Cloud: Administering the System and M3 Cloud: Administering Security, plus eLearning such as M3 Cloud: Exploring the User Interface. Course descriptions and schedules require an Infor Campus login.

Is there an Infor M3 user guide?

Yes. The M3 Business Engine user documentation on docs.infor.com describes processes and programs by area, for example sales management, supply chain execution, procurement and financial accounting. The M3 Core User and Administration Library covers H5, personalization, the API repository, Metadata Publisher and administration.

Is M3 the same as Movex?

Yes. M3 descends from Movex, the ERP developed by the Swedish company Intentia. Intentia merged with Lawson Software in 2006 and Infor acquired Lawson in 2011. Program codes such as OIS100 and MMS001 date from that heritage and are still used today.

How are M3 program codes built?

Most programs have a three-letter area prefix and a three-digit number, for example OIS for customer orders, PPS for purchasing, MMS for materials, PMS for manufacturing orders, CRS for common settings and GLS, APS and ARS for finance. The name follows a pattern such as 'Customer Order. Open' (OIS100). MI programs for APIs end in MI, such as CRS610MI.

How long does it take to learn Infor M3?

It depends on the role and modules. Use the builder: an end user with two areas is a few weeks at a few hours a week, a functional consultant covering eight areas with advanced lessons is several times that. The plan shows total hours and a finish date for your choices.

What should an M3 beginner learn first?

Start with H5 navigation: Ctrl+R Search and Start, panels A, B and E, options such as 2=Change and 5=Display, views and Export to Excel, and the item, customer and supplier masters in MMS001, CRS610 and CRS620. Then learn the programs for your area, for example OIS100, MWS410 and OIS180 for order to cash.

What does an M3 developer need to learn?

MI programs and the M3 API repository, calling APIs through ION API with OAuth 2.0, the Metadata Publisher, H5 scripts and personalization, Experience Designer, XtendM3 extensions in Groovy for cloud tenants, and integration through BODs, Event Hub and Enterprise Collaborator.

Can I practice in my production M3?

No. Use a test, training or sandbox tenant. Many lessons post stock and financial transactions, change settings or create security records that you do not want in production.
