Where do I find official SAP S/4HANA training?

SAP delivers training through SAP Learning (learning.sap.com): learning journeys and courses such as Implementing SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition, Purchasing in SAP S/4HANA, Fundamental Customizing in SAP S/4HANA Sales and Exploring the Authorization Concept for SAP S/4HANA and SAP Business Suite. SAP says an SAP Learning Hub subscription adds guided learning, practice systems and live sessions for certification preparation.

Is there an SAP S/4HANA user guide?

Yes. The SAP Help Portal has the SAP S/4HANA product documentation by release, including application help per area (finance, sourcing and procurement, sales, manufacturing), the SAP Fiori overview, the conversion and upgrade guides and the What's New documents. The SAP Fiori apps reference library documents each app and the SAP GUI transactions available as tiles.

Does this plan work for SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition?

Yes. SAP documents SAP S/4HANA and SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition together, and the transactions and apps in this plan were checked in the SAP Fiori apps reference library for the 2025 release in both. This plan does not cover SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, which SAP documents and trains separately.

What should an SAP S/4HANA beginner learn first?

Start with the SAP Fiori launchpad and SAP GUI basics, the organizational units, and the S/4HANA data model: business partners in BP, the universal journal (ACDOCA) and material documents in MATDOC. Then learn the transactions of your area, for example VA01, VL01N and VF01 for order to cash.

What changes for users coming from SAP ECC?

Customers and suppliers are maintained as business partners in BP through customer/vendor integration, SAP Credit Management data in UKM_BP, finance line items in the universal journal (ACDOCA), material documents in MATDOC, and MRP can run as MRP Live in MD01N. Many SAP GUI transactions stay, and Fiori apps such as Manage Journal Entries and Manage Sales Orders are added. Use the ECC replacement reference linked on this page to plan delta training and check each code in your release.

What does an SAP S/4HANA developer need to learn?

ABAP in ABAP Development Tools for Eclipse, ABAP CDS view entities and the virtual data model, the ABAP RESTful application programming model (RAP) for OData services, released APIs, BAdIs, and ATC checks for custom code. Key user tools such as Custom Fields and Logic and Custom Analytical Queries are worth knowing too.

Can I practice in my production system?

No. Use a sandbox, training or quality client. Many lessons post documents, run allocations or the payment program, change roles or activate services, which you do not want in production.

Is SAP S/4HANA certification available?

Yes. SAP lists certifications on learning.sap.com, for example SAP Certified - SAP S/4HANA Conversion and SAP System Upgrade (E_S4CON) and SAP Certified - Backend Developer - ABAP Cloud (C_ABAPD). SAP says certifications are kept active with an annual assessment. Check the current exams and codes on learning.sap.com, as they change with releases.
