WhatsApp Messaging Limit Tier Campaign Duration Calculator

WhatsApp caps how many unique people a business can start conversations with in a rolling day. A large contact list therefore takes days, not minutes, and that time collides with your normal alerts. This calculator plans the schedule.

Calendar days vs capacity reserved

Sweeps Capacity reserved for alerts and replies from 0 to 80, holding your other inputs fixed.

Want opt ins and limits tracked against your ERP?

An optional review of contact consent, tier planning and alert reserve design.

Optional. The tool and every export work without this. No spam.

How to use it

Enter the number of unique contacts you intend to reach, select your current tier from WhatsApp Manager, and set how much capacity to hold back for operational messages. Those might be delivery notices, approval prompts or one time passcodes sent to people you have not messaged in the last day. The result shows sending days and calendar days if you skip weekends.

  • De duplicate the list first, since the limit counts unique contacts
  • Hold back more reserve if alerts spike with ERP runs
  • Send in waves and watch quality rating between them

The formula

Daily capacity equals tier limit times one minus the reserved share. Sending days equal contacts divided by daily capacity, rounded up. Calendar days equal sending days divided by the share of days you actually send. With 25,000 contacts, a 10,000 tier and 30 percent reserve, daily capacity is 7,000 and the list takes 4 sending days. The sweep chart shows how a heavier reserve stretches the schedule.

Common mistakes

Pushing the whole list at once risks blocks and reports, which lower your quality rating and can keep you from moving up a tier. Do not message people without opt in, since that is both a policy and a legal problem in many countries. Remember that replies inside an open customer service window do not count the same way as new conversations, so treat this as a planning estimate and confirm with your own usage dashboard.

  • Only message opted in contacts
  • Pause if block or report rates rise
  • Segment by engagement so warm contacts go first

Frequently Asked Questions

What do the tiers mean?

They cap the number of unique contacts a business can start conversations with in a rolling 24 hour period. Higher tiers unlock as you send quality volume. Check the current rules in Meta documentation.

Does the reserve matter?

Yes. If a campaign uses the full limit, a new customer alert that day may not send. Holding back capacity avoids that conflict.

Can I move up a tier faster?

Tier upgrades depend on quality rating and the volume you send to opted in users. Sending relevant messages and keeping blocks low is the only reliable approach.

Are replies counted in the limit?

Replies inside an active customer service window generally do not consume the unique contact limit the same way as business initiated conversations. Confirm with current Meta documentation.
