SyteLine Inspection Plan Setup and Configuration Guide

Inspection plans in Infor SyteLine define what gets inspected, how it gets inspected, and what constitutes a pass or fail result. The SLQualityInspectionPlans IDO stores plan headers while SLQualityInspPlanDetails holds individual test criteria with measurement specifications, sampling rules, and tolerance ranges. Well-designed inspection plans are the foundation of a repeatable, auditable quality process.

Inspection Plan Structure and Test Criteria

Create inspection plans on the Inspection Plans form (menu path: Quality > Setup > Inspection Plans) with a logical structure that maps to your quality control procedures. Each plan contains one or more test criteria lines in the SLQualityInspPlanDetails IDO specifying the characteristic to measure, measurement method, target value, and acceptable tolerance range.

  • Define inspection plan headers with plan ID, description, and revision level on the Inspection Plans form for version-controlled quality procedures
  • Add test criteria lines specifying the measured characteristic (dimension, hardness, surface finish, visual) with target values and tolerance ranges
  • Configure measurement types (Variable for measured values, Attribute for pass/fail) on each test line to drive the correct data entry interface
  • Set up test sequence numbers to define the inspection workflow order and enable skip-lot logic for tests with consistent pass history
  • Link reference documents (drawings, work instructions, photos) to inspection plan lines for inspector guidance during execution

Sampling Rules and AQL Configuration

Not every unit requires inspection. Configure sampling rules on the inspection plan to define sample sizes based on lot quantity, AQL (Acceptable Quality Level) tables, or fixed sample counts. SyteLine supports ANSI/ASQ Z1.4 (MIL-STD-1916) sampling schemes and custom sampling tables for industry-specific requirements stored in the SLQualitySamplingPlans IDO.

  • Configure AQL sampling levels on the Sampling Plans form (menu path: Quality > Setup > Sampling Plans) referencing ANSI Z1.4 normal, tightened, and reduced plans
  • Set up lot-size-based sampling tables defining sample quantities for inspection lot size ranges (e.g., lot 1-50 inspect 5, lot 51-200 inspect 13)
  • Enable dynamic sampling level switching based on inspection history: auto-tighten after failures, auto-reduce after consecutive passes
  • Configure skip-lot inspection rules to bypass inspection for items with proven quality history, reverting to full inspection upon any failure

Plan Assignment and Inspection Triggering

Inspection plans must be linked to items, vendors, or operations to trigger automatically during SyteLine transactions. Configure plan assignments on the Items form Quality tab or the Vendor Quality sub-form to ensure the correct inspection plan activates for each receiving, production, or shipping event without manual intervention.

  • Assign inspection plans to items on the Items form Quality tab using the Inspection Plan field for default plan selection on all quality events
  • Configure vendor-specific inspection plans on the Vendor Items sub-form to apply different inspection criteria based on the supplier source
  • Link inspection plans to job routing operations for in-process quality checks at specific manufacturing steps
  • Set up operation-level plan overrides on the Job Routes form for job-specific inspection requirements that differ from the standard plan
  • Enable automatic inspection record generation with the assigned plan when receiving, production, or shipping transactions are processed
