BOM Cost Rollup Worksheet for Acumatica and Sage
Before you load standard costs into a new ERP, you want a quick independent check of the roll-up. This worksheet lets you list the components, apply a scrap allowance and see the extended and total material cost, then export the table to Excel.
| Component | UoM | Qty per assembly | Scrap allowance % (%) | Unit cost | Extended cost | |

Extended cost = quantity per assembly x (1 + scrap allowance) x unit cost. Check results against the cost rollup in your ERP before loading standard costs.
Cost rollup audit
We can compare your ERP cost rollups with purchase prices and flag odd lines.
Optional. The tool and every export work without this. No spam.
How to use it
Replace the sample rows with your components, units of measure and quantity per assembly. Enter a scrap allowance for each line where yield loss is expected, such as bar stock and cut-to-length materials. Unit costs come from your latest purchase prices or approved standard costs. The total updates as you edit, and you can add rows for sub-assemblies or additional components.
Method
Each line costs quantity x (1 + scrap / 100) x unit cost. The sum of lines is the rolled-up material cost, and the summary shows a burdened figure using an illustrative overhead rate. Real systems also roll up labour, machine and overhead through routings, and multi-level BOMs add the cost of each child assembly, so use this for single-level checks and spot audits.
- Keep units of measure consistent with purchasing units.
- Use yield-based scrap for materials, fixed for fasteners.
- Record the cost date so the check is traceable.
Common mistakes
Mismatched units of measure are the classic error, such as costing per metre while the BOM consumes millimetres. Others include double-counting scrap that the routing also applies, and using last price for some parts and average cost for others. Compare against the ERP rollup and investigate any line that differs.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this do multi-level BOMs?
It handles one level at a time. For multi-level products, roll up each sub-assembly separately and enter its cost as a component line in the parent.
What scrap percentage should I use?
Use measured yield loss from production or supplier data. For standard costing, many companies review scrap factors annually as part of the cost update.
Can I export it?
Yes. The worksheet exports to Excel, CSV and PDF, so you can share it or use it as a reference during a cost review.
Is this a cost accounting tool?
It is a simple check. Full costing includes labour, machine rates, overhead and variances, which belong in your ERP's costing module.
Netray can compare your ERP cost rollups with your purchasing data and highlight outliers.
