Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain License Cost Calculator
This calculator turns a user count by license tier into monthly, annual and multi-year subscription cost for Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management. Change the prices to match your quote and see what a discount or a different user mix does.
Your numbers
Users who hold a first Finance or Supply Chain Management base license.
Users who already hold one base app and need a second D365 app at the attach rate.
Light-use staff: self service, time and expense, approvals, read access.
Enter your quoted list or contract price. Microsoft changes prices, so verify.
Your results
Prices are editable placeholders for planning. Use your Microsoft or partner quote. Capacity add-ons, environments, Commerce and other apps are not included.
Annual cost vs number of base users
Sweeps Base (full) users from 5 to 200, holding your other inputs fixed.
Licensing and role usage review
Optional: have an expert compare your D365 role assignments with actual activity to right-size license tiers.

How to use it
Count users by what they actually do. Anyone who creates orders, posts journals or runs planning is a base user. Someone who already has one base app and also needs a second app is an attach user. Staff who only submit time, expenses, requisitions or approvals are team members. Enter prices from your quote, set a discount if you negotiated one, and pick the term. The chart sweeps base users so you can see how the annual figure scales as the rollout grows.
How the maths works
Monthly cost is users times price for each tier, summed, then reduced by the discount percentage. Annual cost is monthly times twelve. Term total is annual times the number of years. The per-user figure divides net monthly cost by base plus team users, because attach users sit on top of an existing base user. There is no hidden uplift: the page only multiplies the numbers you give it.
- Net monthly = (base + attach + team) x (1 - discount)
- Annual = net monthly x 12
- Term total = annual x years
Common mistakes
The usual error is licensing everyone as a base user because it feels safe. Role mapping matters: a security role design that keeps most staff on light duties can move many people to team member pricing. The opposite error is under-counting users who touch both Finance and Supply Chain screens. Also budget separately for extra database or file capacity, additional non-production environments and partner implementation, none of which are in this number.
Using the result
Compare the net annual figure against your current ERP run cost including infrastructure, support and upgrades. Run the calculator twice, once with a conservative and once with a generous team member share, to see the range. Bring the result to the licensing conversation with your partner and ask them to validate role-to-license mapping against Microsoft's current licensing guide.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are these the current Microsoft prices?
No. The defaults are planning placeholders. Microsoft changes list prices and licensing rules, and your contract may differ. Overwrite each price with the figure from your quote before relying on the output for a budget.
What is an attach license?
An attach license lets a user who already holds a qualifying base D365 application use an additional app at a reduced price. Eligibility rules are set by Microsoft, so confirm with your reseller which of your users qualify.
Does the total include implementation?
No. It covers subscription licenses only. Implementation services, data migration, integrations, training, extra environments and storage capacity are separate costs that you should estimate on their own.
Why is cost per user lower than the base price?
Because team member users are cheaper and are averaged in. If most of your people are light users, the blended figure falls well below the base price. Check that the team member count is realistic for your roles.
