EU Manufacturer ERP Selection Scorecard (Excel Export)

European manufacturers choosing an ERP weigh things that US templates often ignore: multi country VAT, local language statutory reports, GDPR, and a partner who can actually staff the project. This scorecard gives you a weighted grid to compare three vendors fairly.

Replace the example rows with your own criteria. Rename Vendor A, B and C in the exported file. Scores should come from scripted demos and reference calls, not brochures. The example scores are illustrative only and do not describe any real product.

Scripted demo scenarios

We can help turn your top criteria into demo scripts that vendors must run on your data. Optional.

Optional. The tool and every export work without this. No spam.

How to use the scorecard

Start by agreeing the criteria and weights with the steering group before any vendor demo, so enthusiasm does not bend the weights. Weights run from 1 to 10, scores from 1 to 5. Each vendor is scored at the end of scripted demos using your own scenarios. The tool multiplies weight by score for each row and shows the total as a percentage of the maximum possible.

Criteria that matter for EU manufacturers

Beyond manufacturing depth, add criteria for how the system handles your reality across borders. If you sell into several countries, tax and e-invoicing formats can decide the project. Data location and processing terms belong in the grid because they affect legal review time.

  • VAT, Intrastat and recapitulative statements by country
  • E-invoicing formats and public sector requirements
  • Language support for screens, documents and reports
  • EU hosting and data processing agreement terms
  • Partner capacity in your region and industry
  • Total cost over five years, not just license price

Reading the result

Differences of a few percentage points are noise. Look instead at rows where a vendor scored 1 or 2 on a criterion with a weight of 8 or more, since those are potential deal breakers regardless of total score. Run a sensitivity check by changing the highest weights by two points and see whether the ranking holds.

Common mistakes

Do not add so many criteria that weights lose meaning, 20 to 40 well chosen rows is enough. Avoid letting one evaluator score all vendors, use at least two scorers and average. Keep cost as a separate view if your board wants it that way, and do not score on features the vendor says are on the roadmap.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which ERPs does this scorecard cover?

None specifically. It is vendor neutral and works for any shortlist, such as abas, proALPHA, IFS, Exact, Priority, Visma or others. The example rows and scores are placeholders only.

How many criteria should I use?

Between 20 and 40 usually works. Fewer than 15 hides important differences, and more than 50 makes weights meaningless. Group them into areas such as manufacturing, finance, localization and cost.

How do I set weights fairly?

Agree them as a group before demos. Ask each stakeholder to distribute points, then average. Give higher weights to criteria that are hard to change later, such as data model and manufacturing depth.

Does the total include price?

Only if you add cost criteria, as in the example. Many teams prefer to score functionality and partner quality first, then compare price separately for the top two vendors.

If you want help building scripted demo scenarios or checking vendor claims against your data, Netray can support the evaluation. The scorecard is free and works on its own.
