Epicor Learning Center, Training and Certification Guide

Epicor does not sell a public certification exam for Kinetic. Certifications exist inside the Epicor channel partner program, and everyone else learns through the Epicor Learning Center, the in-product Help & Support Panel, instructor-led classes and Insights. This page sets out what each path gives you, what is free, what needs a subscription, and a role-based self-study route you can prove with work samples instead of a certificate.

No public certification exam for Epicor

Epicor has no public certification exam for Kinetic. Epicor's own pages describe a product certification program for its channel ecosystem: partners are required to maintain certifications across the portfolio, and partner consultants follow an Epicor Services Consulting certification track. Customers, end users and independent consultants cannot buy or sit those exams, and Epicor publishes no exam guide, objectives, weights, question count, pass mark or price. Learn through the Epicor Learning Center instead, and if you need a credential, work for or with an Epicor certified partner. Anyone selling an "official Epicor certification exam" outside that program is not Epicor.

Training paths that do exist

  • Epicor Learning Center (ELC)

    Epicor's learning platform: on-demand courses, role-based learning paths, skill-based agendas, videos, progress dashboards and reporting for managers. Covers all core Epicor ERP products and select business applications. Epicor says customers with full access get the entire catalog while essential courses are available at no cost to others. Full-access pricing is not published; ask your Epicor account manager.

  • Sign up for an ELC account

    Epicor's FAQ says customers can sign up any time. You need to be tied to an Epicor customer or partner account; an EpicCare login and account number help (see the EpicCare entry below).

  • Help & Support Panel (in the application)

    Opened from the question mark icon in the Kinetic main menu on cloud products. Help articles, videos, guided tours, field help, knowledge base articles, technical guides and release information on the screen you are using. Best for learning a screen while you do the task.

  • Knowledge Agent (cloud customers)

    AI answers inside the Help & Support Panel, drawn only from Epicor content, not your data. Epicor says it is exclusive to cloud customers. Useful for quick lookups; check answers against the help article it cites before you change configuration.

  • Instructor-led training from Epicor Professional Services

    Epicor's FAQ says instructor-led training is delivered by its Professional Services team and booked through the Epicor Learning Center. Paid, priced per engagement; get a quote.

  • Epicor Insights (user conference)

    Breakout sessions, hands-on labs and Extended Education sessions. Listed on Epicor's events page when checked: Insights Americas May 10-13, 2027 (Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas) and Insights ANZ August 16-18, 2027 (Gold Coast). Attendance does not award a certification.

  • EpicCare (support portal)

    Customer support portal and knowledge base. Register with your company's Epicor account number. Release notes and support articles here are the best source for version-specific behavior.

  • Epicor certified partner route (the only way to an Epicor certification)

    Partner staff get access to Epicor training materials and certifications. Epicor's August 2025 blog describes partners whose new hires must be certified within their first two months, and a path through Application Studio, ECM, Automation Studio and Kinetic core training. If you want the credential, join a certified partner or ask your partner to sponsor you.

  • Self-study route for administrators (no certificate, provable skills)

    In a test or pilot company: build a BAQ with a calculated field and a subquery, publish it to a dashboard, create a security group and menu security for one role, add a user-defined field and expose it in Application Studio as a layer, schedule a BAQ report through the System Agent, and document each with screenshots.

  • Self-study route for developers

    In a test company: write a method directive (pre-processing) that validates an order, a data directive that writes to a UD field, an Epicor Function called from a directive and from REST, a REST v2 call with an API key, and a DMT load of parts and BOMs. Keep the code in source control as your portfolio.

  • Self-study route for functional consultants

    Walk one full quote-to-cash and plan-to-produce cycle: quote, sales order, job entry, MRP run, material issue, labor entry, job receipt to inventory, shipment, AR invoice, then month-end job closing and WIP reconciliation. Record the setup decisions (costing method, backflush, site configuration) that changed the result.

How to use the Epicor study planner

    Decide whether you need a certificate or the skill

    If a client or employer requires an Epicor certification, the only route is through an Epicor channel partner. If you need to run or build on Kinetic, the Epicor Learning Center plus documented hands-on work is the faster path.

    Get Learning Center access

    Sign up through Epicor's Learning page with your company's Epicor customer or partner account. Check with your Epicor account manager whether your subscription includes full catalog access or only the essential courses.

    Pick a role-based learning path

    Administrator, developer or functional consultant. Use the ELC path for your role and the self-study tasks listed above, in a test or pilot company, never in Live.

    Learn on the screen you use

    On cloud releases open the Help & Support Panel from the question mark icon on each screen you work in. It shows the help articles, videos and guided tours for that screen.

    Build evidence instead of a certificate

    Keep a portfolio: BAQs, directives, Functions, Application Studio layers and DMT templates with screenshots and notes on the version you built them in. It answers the question a certificate is meant to answer.

Epicor's August 2025 partner blog quotes a consulting firm that ran Epicor services independently for years and could not take part in Epicor trainings and certifications until it became a partner. The routes are joining a certified partner, or your firm applying to the partner program.

Do Epicor certifications expire?

Epicor does not publish validity or renewal rules. Partners are described as required to maintain certifications across the portfolio, which implies ongoing recertification, but the terms are inside the partner program. Ask the partner what the current rules are.

How do I check whether a consultant or firm is Epicor certified?

Start with Epicor's Find a Partner directory for the firm, then ask the firm which Epicor certifications the named consultant holds, for which product and release, and when they were earned. Because exam details are not public, a work sample (a BAQ, directive or Function they built) and a reference call tell you more than a badge.

What should an Epicor administrator learn first?

Security (users, security groups, menu and field security), BAQ Designer and dashboards, user-defined fields and Application Studio layers, the System Agent and scheduled tasks, and the upgrade and release process for your deployment. Developers add BPM directives, Epicor Functions, REST v2 and DMT.

Does Epicor Insights give a certification?

No. Insights has keynotes, breakout sessions, hands-on labs and Extended Education sessions, which are good for depth and roadmap, but attending does not award a certification.

Are Prophet 21 and Eclipse covered here?

No. They are separate Epicor products with their own learning paths in the Epicor Learning Center. This page covers Epicor Kinetic and its predecessors Epicor ERP 10, Epicor 9, Vantage and Vista.
