  • Prerequisites: None
  • Recommended experience: SAP positions it as core-skills level for a member of an implementation project team. Comfort with SPRO customizing and FI postings matters more than theory, because the exam is done in a system.

Gotchas for this exam

  • Topic names overlap (Accounts Receivable and Value Adjustments; Asset Accounting and Acquisition/Depreciation Postings). Plan them together in the same sandbox client so one chain of data covers both.
  • The page carries a beta of SAP Joule for Consultants as an open-book aid, with the beta period ending October 29, 2026. Do not plan to rely on it after that date.
  • Open book does not mean slow is fine: 3 hours for every configuration task. Practice each chain against a timer in the practice system.
  • Prep material built for C_TS4FI_2023 and older multiple-choice exams does not prepare you for configuring in a system. Use the current learning journey.

Step 4: Exam-day logistics

  • Set up your SAP Universal ID for certification

    Assign at least two email addresses from different domains and link the S-user or P-user that holds your subscription. A wrong setup blocks the exam launch and badge issue.

  • Enroll in the learning journey practice system

    Needs SAP Learning Hub (or the 10 hours included with the two-attempt purchase). Some systems take up to 90 minutes to prepare, enrollments have a fixed end date and you can hold two at a time.

  • Confirm your exam attempts

    Open the certification page and check that attempts are shown for both the certification and your subscription.

  • Check the maintenance calendar

    SAP lists planned downtime for practice systems and system-based assessments on the Practice systems support page (section 17). On 2026-10-22 the Manufacturing exam page said it was unavailable until October 23, 2026.

  • Run the Technical Readiness Checklist

    Check browser, connectivity and security settings from the SAP Learning help center. For scenario-based exams, allow microphone (camera optional) and ask IT to allow *.yoodli.ai and storage.googleapis.com if a company network blocks the roleplay.

  • Book or cancel your exam slot

    Where the exam system needs a reserved slot, cancel at least 24 hours before if you are not ready. SAP sends a reminder 24 hours ahead.

  • ABAP only: update Eclipse and ABAP Development Tools

    The ABAP Cloud exam runs in your own Eclipse with ADT. Install the highest available release of both before you start.

  • Block the full exam time without interruptions

    S/4HANA system-based exams are 3 hours (Conversion: 2 hours). The clock keeps running during breaks.

  • Open your reference tabs before starting

    SAP Help Portal, your learning journey notes and, where offered, Joule for Consultants. Keep the assessment page open next to the system tab to read the tasks.

  • Download the setup guide and task list first

    Accept the terms, click Enroll in the system-based assessment window, then download the setup guide, certification tasks and course files.

  • Click Confirm Completion

    The attempt is only scored after you confirm. Results appear in about 15 minutes under My Learnings > My Certifications.

  • Claim the Credly badge

    The badge goes to the primary email of your SAP Universal ID. Create or merge Credly accounts so it lands in one place.

Program rules that catch people out

Exam format
Practical and open book. System-based: complete tasks in a live SAP system. Scenario-based: AI roleplay or recorded video. You cannot choose the type; it is set per certification.
Allowed resources
Publicly available SAP resources such as SAP Help Portal, the SAP Learning site and, where applicable, SAP Joule for Consultants and other AI tools.
Proctoring
Not proctored. Identity is validated through your SAP Universal ID.
How to buy
SAP Learning Hub subscription (four attempts per year) or SAP Certification exam, two attempts. Bought on SAP Store or through your SAP representative.
SAP Universal ID
Required, with at least two email addresses from different domains. Link the S-user or P-user that holds the subscription.
Timer
Starts when you click Start the Certification Exam. Breaks do not pause it; all tasks must be finished in one session.
Slot booking
Some exam systems need a reserved slot. Cancel at least 24 hours before; booking a slot does not use an attempt. You cannot book another exam while one is scheduled.
Results
System-based results usually arrive about 15 minutes after Confirm Completion, with a downloadable score report under My Learnings > My Certifications.
Technical problems
Create a case with a description, steps and screenshots. If SAP confirms a system error, a new attempt may be granted.
Validity and renewal
12 months from the initial exam. Pass a Stay Certified assessment in the 90-day window before expiry; the new expiry is 12 months after the old one, not after the date you passed.
Retired certifications
Valid certificates get 12 extra months from the retirement date; after that you need the successor certification.
Accessibility
Because exams are open book and unproctored, screen readers and help from another person need no special request. Create a case for further assistance.

SAP Certification (SAP Learning) at a glance

SAP certifications for S/4HANA are now practical exams: open book, unproctored, timeboxed tasks in a live SAP system (system-based) or an AI roleplay or recorded video (scenario-based). SAP says proctored multiple-choice exams run in parallel through 2026 for some certifications and that all certifications will move to the practical format. A certification is valid for 12 months from the initial exam and is extended with a yearly Stay Certified assessment that needs an SAP Learning Hub subscription. Older study guides, question dumps and C_TS4FI_2023 style prep material describe the retired multiple-choice format and do not match the current exams.

Is there an SAP FICO certification?

Not as one exam. SAP splits it into C_TS4FI (Financial Accounting, 60% pass score) and C_TS4CO (Management Accounting, 59% pass score) for S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition, both 3-hour system-based practical exams that also cover on-premise configuration. Most FICO consultants take FI first, then CO.

What format are SAP S/4HANA certification exams now?

Practical, open book and unproctored. System-based exams give you tasks to complete in a live SAP system within the time limit; scenario-based exams use an AI roleplay or a recorded video. Does the Private Edition certification cover on-premise S/4HANA?

SAP states that the Sourcing and Procurement, Sales, Manufacturing and Management Accounting certifications are relevant for both SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition and on-premise. Public Edition has its own certifications because configuration runs through SAP Central Business Configuration.

How many hours does it take to prepare?

The planner estimates it from the tasks: about 60 minutes per official course, 20 per course page to review, 45 per hands-on task and 120 for a full timed rehearsal, scaled by your experience and your confidence on each topic. The formula is shown under the plan.
