Daily Production Schedule Board Worksheet (Excel Export)
A daily schedule board is the simplest control a production scheduler has. This worksheet lists jobs in running order, adds setup and run hours, and shows at a glance whether the day fits the shift.

Keep one board per work center per day. Compare the total against the shift hours you can really staff, not the nameplate hours.

Optional: an expert review of how to generate this schedule view from live released orders.
Optional. The tool and every export work without this. No spam.
How to use the board
List the jobs for one work center in the order you want them run, then enter setup and run hours from the routing or from recent actuals. The total column adds them for you and the summary compares the day against an 8 hour shift. Change the status as the shift progresses and export to Excel for the floor copy. If the gap goes negative, move a job to the next day or add overtime rather than hoping the run rates improve.
- One board per work center per day keeps the numbers honest.
- Sequence by due date first, then by setup family to cut changeovers.
- Mark Blocked jobs with the missing item so purchasing can see it.
Where the hours come from
Run hours are quantity divided by the standard rate, adjusted for the yield you actually see. Setup hours should come from the routing, but many shops find routing setups are stale, so compare them with the last three actual setups for that part. Do not schedule to 100 percent of the shift. Breaks, first piece approval, tool breakage and material moves consume time that rarely shows in the routing.
Reading the setup share
The setup share tells you how much of the plan is not producing parts. A figure above 25 to 30 percent on a machining center usually points to batching that is too small or a sequence that ignores part families. It is a prompt to look at the changeover order, not a target in itself, because small lots may be a customer requirement.
Common mistakes
The usual errors are scheduling jobs whose material is not kitted, forgetting that a job already running carries over from the previous shift, and ignoring planned maintenance. In an ERP such as SyteLine, Epicor, SAP PP or Oracle, the same board is a view of released orders by work center, but the system date logic often hides these practical gaps.
- Include carry-over jobs from the prior shift.
- Subtract planned maintenance and meetings before judging the gap.
- Re-run the board when a hot job arrives.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use this for more than one machine?
Yes, add a work center value to each row and filter in Excel after export. For a clean load check, though, keep one board per work center so the total hours compare with one shift capacity.
Why is the shift gap fixed at 8 hours?
It is a simple default. Adjust the number after export, or subtract the hours you actually staff. For exact capacity by week, use a capacity worksheet that deducts breaks, maintenance and expected utilization.
Where should setup hours come from?
Start with the routing, then compare with recent actual setup times for the same part and machine. If actuals are consistently higher, use actuals in the schedule and fix the routing in your ERP.
Does it send data to my ERP?
No. It runs in your browser and exports to Excel, PDF or CSV. Nothing is written back to any system.
If your ERP already holds these orders, we can build a read-only board that pulls released jobs by work center and flags the ones that are short of material.
