Infor LN General Tables Reference: tcmcs Common Data
The tcmcs tables in the Common package hold the code lists that almost every LN and Baan session references: units, currencies, countries, languages, item groups, payment and delivery terms, departments, carriers and more. This reference gives the key field, the maintenance session, the tables that point to each one and guidance on sharing them across companies.

Sharing guidance is a starting point for logical table linking in a multicompany setup, not an Infor rule: share tables whose codes must mean the same everywhere (units, currencies, countries, languages), consider sharing reference lists maintained centrally, and keep logistics and finance-specific tables (warehouses, departments) per company. Numbers, keys and sessions were checked against the LN 10.x online help. Baan IV notes say 'same number' only for well-known tables; for the rest, check the Baan IV data dictionary of your own system.

How to use the list
Search by table number, description or field. The Key field column is the code that other tables store: for example tdsls400.cpay holds a tcmcs013 payment term and tcibd001.citg holds a tcmcs023 item group. When a session rejects a value or a report shows a code without a description, find the referencing field here and join to the general table on its key to get dsca. Most maintenance sessions follow the pattern tcmcs01NNm000 for table tcmcs0NN; a few, such as Countries, Payment Terms, Departments, Warehouses and Carriers, use tcmcs05NNm000 in LN 10.x.
Logical table sharing across companies
In a multicompany LN environment, tables can be linked so that several logical companies read one physical company. General tables are the usual candidates because the codes must mean the same thing everywhere. Share units, currencies, countries and languages almost always. Share item groups, price groups and terms when a central master data team owns them. Keep warehouses and departments per company because they carry addresses, financial companies and sites. Decide before go-live: splitting a shared table later means copying data and remapping references.
- Share: units, currencies, countries, languages
- Often share: item groups, terms, carriers, reasons
- Usually not: warehouses, departments
Baan IV versus LN
Many tcmcs numbers are unchanged since Baan IV, which is why old reports still find units in tcmcs001 and item groups in tcmcs023. Warehouses are a common surprise: tcmcs003 still exists in LN 10.x as the warehouse master, while the warehousing-specific settings moved to whwmd200. LN added tables that Baan IV did not have, such as business partner types, unit sets and points of title passage. When you migrate, compare the field list of each table rather than assuming a same-numbered table has the same columns.
Worked example: show descriptions in a report
A sales order report shows codes such as cpay, cdec and creg. To print descriptions, left join tcmcs013 on cpay, tcmcs041 on cdec and tcmcs045 on creg, and select dsca from each. If the tables are logically shared, read them in the company that physically holds the data, which you can see in the company mapping, otherwise the join returns nothing. Some general tables also carry multi-language descriptions, so check which data language your report session uses before you compare text with what users see on screen.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a general table in Infor LN?
A general table is a code list in the Common (tc) package, mostly tcmcs tables, that other modules reference: units, currencies, countries, item groups, payment terms, delivery terms, departments, carriers and similar. They are maintained in sessions such as tcmcs0101m000 Units and are often shared across companies.
How do I maintain general tables in Infor LN?
Open the maintenance session for the table, for example Item Groups (tcmcs0123m000) or Payment Terms (tcmcs0513m000), and add or change codes there. If the table is logically shared, the change applies to every linked company, so agree changes with the other companies first.
Which table holds item groups in Infor LN?
tcmcs023, keyed by citg, maintained in Item Groups (tcmcs0123m000). The item group code is stored on tcibd001.citg and is also used in conversion factors (tcibd003) and item by business partner records (tdisa010). The same table number was used for item groups in Baan IV.
Should warehouses be shared between companies?
Usually not. tcmcs003 warehouses carry an address, a financial company and links to sites and enterprise units, and warehousing settings in whwmd200 depend on them. Sharing them makes inventory ownership and postings unclear. Share code lists that mean the same everywhere instead.
If you are consolidating companies or cleaning up shared master data in LN, we can help your team query these tables in plain English on your own servers.
