How to use it
Read the Oracle E-Business Suite Installation Guide: Using Rapid Install for 12.2 and the Linux x86-64 installation notes (Doc ID 1330701.1) alongside this list. The notes carry the exact package list, kernel parameters and OS-specific fixes, which change with each Oracle Linux update. Work the groups in order, tick items as you go and export the list as part of your build record. Critical items are the ones that typically force a reinstall when missed.

Where things live after install
A 12.2 application tier has two complete file systems, fs1 and fs2, used alternately as run and patch file systems by online patching, plus a non-editioned file system, fs_ne, for logs and data that do not change with editions. Environment files under the base directory set the run or patch environment; source the run environment for day-to-day work. Service control scripts such as adstrtal.sh, adstpall.sh and admanagedsrvctl.sh live in $ADMIN_SCRIPTS_HOME. The login page is /OA_HTML/AppsLogin on the web entry host and port.
Lab installs and VirtualBox
For learning or demos, Oracle has published Vision demo environments for 12.2.x as Oracle VM VirtualBox appliances, which avoid running Rapid Install yourself. They need a large host with plenty of memory and disk, and are licensed for the purposes Oracle states with the download. A Rapid Install on your own Oracle Linux VM teaches more about the stack but takes longer. Either way, a lab instance still needs default passwords changed if it is reachable on a shared network.
Common mistakes
Typical failures come from an uncertified OS update, missing 32-bit or development packages, a host name that does not resolve fully qualified, too little space in the stage or base directories, and running rapidwiz as the wrong user. After a successful install, the most common mistake is stopping at 12.2.0: the base level must be patched with AD/TXK Delta and a current RUP before it is supportable for real use.

EBS 12.2 Rapid Install media is downloaded from Oracle Software Delivery Cloud (edelivery.oracle.com) with an account entitled to the licence. Download the Linux x86-64 media pack and the latest startCD patch named in the installation notes, then build the stage area with buildStage.sh.
Can Oracle EBS 12.2 be installed on Oracle Linux 8?
Oracle certifies EBS 12.2 on Oracle Linux 8 for supported code levels. Check the Certifications tab on My Oracle Support for the exact OS update and EBS level, and follow the Linux x86-64 installation notes (Doc ID 1330701.1) for the packages and any additional patches required on that release.
What does Rapid Install install for 12.2?
Rapid Install lays down the database, the dual application tier file systems fs1 and fs2 plus fs_ne, the WebLogic and Oracle HTTP Server components and the 12.2.0 base code level. You then apply AD and TXK Delta packs and a 12.2.x RUP with adop to reach a current release.
Can I install Oracle EBS 12.2 on VirtualBox?
Yes. You can run Rapid Install inside an Oracle Linux guest on VirtualBox, or use the Vision demo VirtualBox appliances Oracle has published for 12.2.x. Either needs a host with substantial memory and disk. Check the licensing terms that come with the download before using it.
