How to use the cheat sheet
Use the search box to find a key or an action, then print or export the list. The Source column separates shortcuts that belong to SyteLine from general Windows keys that also work there, so trainers can teach the SyteLine-specific ones first. Start with filter in place, since that is the shortcut most users get the most benefit from.
Filter in place: the shortcut worth learning first
Most SyteLine forms retrieve records using filter in place. Press F4 to enter filter mode, type your criteria in one or more fields, then run the filter with F5 to load matching records. This is much faster than scrolling or clicking through lists, particularly for customer orders, items and purchase orders. Practise on a form you use daily, such as Customer Orders or Items, until the F4, type, F5 sequence is automatic.
- F4 to enter filter mode
- Type criteria in one or more fields
- F5 to run the filter
- Ctrl+S to save changes to the record
Keeping hands on the keyboard
Data entry speed comes from combining Tab and Shift+Tab to move through fields, Ctrl+Tab to switch forms, and Alt with an underlined letter for menus and buttons. Teach new users the tab order of the forms they use most, because it follows the form design and rarely changes. For high-volume entry such as order lines or inventory transactions, a user who avoids the mouse can cut entry time noticeably.
Limits and what to verify
Shortcut behaviour can vary by SyteLine or CloudSuite Industrial release, by client (the Windows client and the browser-based experience differ), and by custom forms. This sheet covers the common keys; if a key does nothing in your system, check the help for your version or ask your administrator. Add your own site-specific shortcuts to the exported copy.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the SyteLine filter in place shortcut?
Press F4 to put the form into filter in place mode, enter your criteria in the fields, and press F5 to run the filter and retrieve the records. This is the standard way to search on most SyteLine forms.
How do I save a record in SyteLine with the keyboard?
Use Ctrl+S to save the current record or form changes. You can also use the Save button on the toolbar. Save before moving to another record in a grid so you do not lose the edit.
Do SyteLine 10 shortcuts work in CloudSuite Industrial?
Most of the common keys carry over because CloudSuite Industrial is the same product family, but the browser-based client can behave differently from the Windows client. Test the keys you rely on and check the help for your release.
Can I customise SyteLine keyboard shortcuts?
Some behaviour can be changed by an administrator or through form customisation, but the standard keys are fixed. Document any site-specific changes so trainers and users share the same cheat sheet.
