Teamcenter Private AI Layer Blueprint Generator
This generator turns your Teamcenter version, database, hosting and use cases into a structured architecture plan for a private AI assistant. It is meant for the first conversation between PLM, IT and security.

1. Context
Acme Aerospace Systems runs Teamcenter 14.x on Oracle, hosted as: On-prem server. Scope: 400 named users across 3 site(s). Target go-live: 2027-03-31.
Use cases in scope: Where-used and BOM questions, change status, document Q and A over released drawings.
Data that must never leave the site: ITAR controlled technical data, customer proprietary designs, supplier pricing.
2. Components
| Component | Design for Teamcenter 14.x | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Data access path | Teamcenter SOA web services as the asking user; reporting replica of Oracle for aggregate analytics only | Replica reads bypass Access Manager, so keep them to unrestricted attributes |
| Retrieval index | Local vector and keyword index over dataset text and item metadata, with access marker per chunk | Re-authorise through SOA before display |
| Model serving | Open-weight model on vLLM, GPU: 2 x 80 GB | Local embeddings, no outbound route |
| Tool server | Named read actions (find item, properties, BOM expand, open changes) | No free-form SQL or free-form SOA payloads |
| Identity and permissions | SSO identity passed to every call; Teamcenter group, role and project applied by the server | No privileged service session for answers |
| Audit | Append-only log of user, prompt, tool calls, object UIDs and answer | Retention set by your records policy |
3. Security controls mapped to your inputs
Hosting: On-prem server. The model host has no internet route; weights and packages enter through the approved media process.
For the data that must stay on site (ITAR controlled technical data, customer proprietary designs, supplier pricing.): access markers on every retrieval chunk, live permission re-check, and exclusion of any folder or class whose rules cannot be mirrored.
Write-back: none in phase 1 and 2. Phase 3 actions use supported SOA operations with an explicit user approval step.
4. Rollout
| Phase | Scope | Exit criteria |
|---|---|---|
| 1: Read-only | Item, BOM, change and document Q and A for one pilot group | Accuracy on a fixed question set agreed with engineers |
| 2: Drafts | ECR summaries, review packages, supplier change notices | Reviewers accept drafts with limited edits |
| 3: Approved actions | Supported SOA actions after human approval | Audit review passed, rollback tested |
5. Open questions for IT
1. Which SSO provider issues identities Teamcenter trusts? 2. Which BMIDE classes and properties carry export control or IP classification data? 3. Where do FMS volumes live and what read path is allowed for extraction? 4. Can a reporting replica of Oracle be provisioned? 5. Who approves model and package imports into the enclave?
A starting plan, not a design sign-off. Confirm service names, versions and your Access Manager rules with your Teamcenter administrators before build.
Architecture review of your plan
Optional: send the generated plan and get a short written review of gaps in permissions and data paths.
Optional. The tool and every export work without this. No spam.
How to use it
Fill in the ten fields, starting with the data that must never leave the site, since that drives the controls. Review the generated components table, edit the text in your own document and share it with IT. The output is a plan, so treat each row as a question to confirm with the people who run Teamcenter.
- Be explicit about export controlled data
- Name the pilot group early
- List known customisations in the use cases field
The method behind the plan
The plan follows one rule: permission-sensitive reads go through Teamcenter's own service layer as the asking user, so Access Manager decides visibility. A database replica is kept for aggregates only. The model is open-weight and runs on your GPUs, and every answer is logged with the objects it used.
Reading the three phases
Phase one proves accuracy and permissions with read-only questions. Phase two adds drafted artefacts that humans edit. Phase three allows narrow, approved actions through supported operations. Do not skip a phase gate because the earlier results look good; permission mistakes appear when more groups join.
Common mistakes
Teams often start from the model and the GPU and leave identity for later. Reverse that order. Another mistake is indexing everything into one store without access markers, which makes later restriction expensive.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this specific to Teamcenter?
The components are chosen for Teamcenter: SOA services, Access Manager and FMS volumes. The same structure suits other PLM systems, but each needs its own data access and permission rows.
Does it send my inputs anywhere?
No. The document is built in your browser from the values you type, and the export is created locally.
Can I use it for air-gapped sites?
Yes. Choose Air-gapped as the hosting option and the plan states that models, packages and updates enter by controlled media only.
How do I size the GPUs?
Use the companion sizing calculator for a first estimate from users, questions per day and tokens per answer, then validate with a load test on your own model.
If you want a second pair of eyes on this plan, Netray can review it against your Teamcenter setup and security rules. The tool works fully without contact.
