Infor LN Text Table: How Text Fields Are Stored
infor ln text table
Also searched as
- infor ln text field storage
- infor ln tttxt010 text table
- infor ln read text sql
- infor ln copy text between records
Short answer
In Infor LN, long text on records such as items, orders and customers is not stored in the business table itself. The record holds a text number, and the text lines live in the text table (tttxt010, per company), keyed by text number and language. To read text with SQL join on that number; to copy it, use the standard text copy functions rather than raw inserts.
Applies to: Infor LN 10.x and ERP LN 6.x on SQL Server or Oracle; table naming as commonly documented, verify in your environment
How to find and read the text behind a record
- 1Open the record's table definition in the data dictionary and identify the field of text type, for example a text field on the item or order.
- 2Read the numeric text number stored in that field for your record (zero means there is no text).
- 3Find the physical text table for your company; the naming convention prefixes t and suffixes the company number, for example ttttxt010 followed by the company number.
- 4Query the text table by text number (and language if you need one) to get the lines.
- 5Concatenate the lines in line order to reconstruct the text.
- 6To copy text, use the text copy or text management functions in the application, which assign a new text number properly.
Why text is stored separately
The Baan and LN data model keeps free text outside the main tables so that long, multi-line and multi-language content does not widen every row. The main table carries a long integer text number that points into the text table. Several records can have text, and each has its own number.
Text is also language-aware. The same number can have separate lines per language, and the application selects the one that matches the user or document language.
Reading it with SQL
For reporting or migration you can join the business table to the text table through the text number. The physical names include a company suffix, so adjust to your company and schema. Treat this as read-only access: LN uses the text number as a handle and creating or editing rows by hand can leave dangling numbers.
Remember that text may be stored compressed or in a specific encoding depending on settings, so test the output on a known record first.
-- Illustrative only: adjust schema, company number and column names to your system SELECT t.t_ctxt, t.t_clan, t.t_seqe, t.t_text FROM ttttxt010100 t WHERE t.t_ctxt = 123456 ORDER BY t.t_clan, t.t_seqe;
Copying text safely
When copying a record, the application normally duplicates the text under a new text number. If you script a copy, call the standard text functions instead of inserting into the text table, because they assign numbers, maintain indexes and respect text groups and authorisations.
When moving data between companies, remember that text numbers are company specific, so a number valid in one company points to nothing, or to the wrong text, in another.

Common pitfalls
- !Inserting rows into the text table directly, creating orphaned or colliding text numbers.
- !Assuming one text number is valid across companies.
- !Ignoring language: reading one language's lines and missing the rest.
- !Joining without the company suffix, so queries hit the wrong or a missing table.
How an ERP-grounded AI assistant handles this
Netray adds a private AI layer on top of the Infor LN you already run, including on-prem installs. ERPray answers questions in plain language over LN data read-only, shows the query it ran and respects LN roles, so a consultant can ask the question instead of hunting for the session. The model runs on your own GPUs, nothing leaves your network, and any write-back needs a human approval. Cloud-hosted LN works too, but the design is tuned for on-prem and air-gapped sites. For pure navigation questions, LN's own session search and help are often enough.
Frequently asked questions
Where is text stored in Infor LN?
In the text table, tttxt010, per company. The business record only holds a text number that points to those lines.
How do I read item text with SQL?
Read the text number from the item's text field, then query the company's text table for that number and order by language and line sequence. Verify column names in your own dictionary.
Can I copy text between companies?
Use the application's text copy or export and import functions. Raw copying fails because text numbers are company specific.
Why is a text field empty in a report?
The text number may be zero, the language may not have lines, or the report may not be reading the text group. Check the text number first.

Logic Deactivation Session in Infor LN
Infor LN enforces business rules through the Data Access Layer (DAL), which runs validation and defaulting logic on every insert, update and delete. Logic deactivation is the controlled way to switch selected logic off for a defined scope, typically for a data conversion or a one-off repair, and then back on. Use it sparingly, with a backup, because rows written without logic can break integrity rules.
AdvancedInfor LN Process Variables: Meaning, Setting and Inspecting
Every Infor LN session runs inside a bshell process that carries environment variables (such as BSE, the installation root) and in-memory process variables used by the 4GL code. Developers read and set process variables from code, commonly with the 4GL calls get.var and put.var, and inspect environment values from the shell or bshell startup options. Check how your version exposes them before relying on one.
How-toInfor LN Report Designer: How to Build and Personalize Reports
Infor LN reports are designed in LN Studio's report designer, where a report is defined by its input fields, data selection through the session's tables and a layout of sections. To personalize a standard report, copy it into your customer VRC and edit the copy, never the standard object, so upgrades do not overwrite your work.
Error fixInfor LN error 512, error 513 and error 201: meaning and fix
These are numeric runtime errors raised by the LN database layer or the underlying RDBMS driver. The number alone is not the diagnosis. The message text, the table and the database log together tell you whether it is a lock, a key or constraint violation, a connection issue or a missing object.
Error fixInfor LN bshell Process Stuck at 100% CPU: How to Diagnose and Fix It
A bshell process pinned at 100% CPU on the Infor LN application server almost always means one session is stuck in a 4GL loop, scanning an unindexed table, or waiting on a database lock. End the session from the Sessions Monitor first, then kill the OS process only if that fails, and check for a blocking database transaction before assuming it is a bug.
Error fixInfor LN Not Authorized to Run This Session: How to Fix It
Infor LN refuses to open a session with a not authorized message when the logged-in user's assigned role does not include that session, or when the session is blocked for the company they are logged into. Grant the session through Common > Authorization Management > Roles, or check the user's role and company context, and the session opens on retry. In most cases this is a permissions configuration issue, not a bug.
