Dates follow SAP's public maintenance announcements (February 2020 and later). Confirm in the SAP Product Availability Matrix for your exact components before planning budgets or contracts. GA years are given only where certain; check SAP PAM for the others.

Get your ECC maintenance position checked

Send your CVERS component list and we will confirm which maintenance phase each system is in and what an EHP8 upgrade would involve.

Which maintenance date applies to you

SAP split ECC maintenance by enhancement package level. EHP0 to EHP5 reached the end of mainstream maintenance on 31 December 2025, with no extended maintenance offered; those systems moved to customer-specific maintenance, which gives problem resolution but no new legal changes. EHP6, EHP7 and EHP8 keep mainstream maintenance until 31 December 2027. On-premise customers can buy extended maintenance from 2028 to the end of 2030 at an additional 2 percentage points on the maintenance base. After 2030 the on-premise system falls back to customer-specific maintenance. A separate transition option runs from 2031 to the end of 2033, but only for SAP ERP private edition customers under RISE with SAP, on SAP HANA.

Where this lives in the system

Open System > Status and press the component information button: the SAP_APPL row gives the application release (606, 617, 618 and so on), and the EA-* rows show the enhancement package extensions. SPAM (Package level) shows the support package stack per component. Table CVERS stores the same component releases and is easy to read in SE16 for many systems at once. In SAP Solution Manager or the maintenance planner, the product version is shown as "EHP8 for SAP ERP 6.0" with its SP stack. Remember that an EHP is installed per technical usage; activating business functions in SFW5 is a separate step and cannot be undone for most functions.

Version differences and gotchas

EHP7 and EHP8 need NetWeaver 7.40 and 7.50, which raises the minimum database, kernel and operating system versions; check the PAM before an EHP upgrade, not after. EHP8 is the last enhancement package and is the expected baseline for the 2031 to 2033 transition option. Moving from EHP5 to EHP8 is a single SUM run, but the custom code adjustment (SPAU, SPDD) and regression testing usually drive the timeline. Extended maintenance is a separate contract item: being on EHP6 to EHP8 makes you eligible, but it is not automatic, so agree it with SAP well before the end of 2027.

How to use this table

Find your SAP_APPL release in System > Status, match it to the row, and read the mainstream and extended dates. If you are on EHP5 or below, you are already outside mainstream maintenance; plan either an EHP8 upgrade to gain maintenance to 2027 and optional extended maintenance to 2030, or a move to S/4HANA. Export the table to Excel and add your own systems as rows to brief management.

Frequently Asked Questions

When does SAP ECC 6.0 support end?

Mainstream maintenance for EHP6, EHP7 and EHP8 ends on 31 December 2027. Optional extended maintenance runs to 31 December 2030 at an extra 2 percentage points. EHP0 to EHP5 lost mainstream maintenance at the end of 2025. Private edition customers can use a transition option from 2031 to the end of 2033.

When was EHP8 for SAP ERP 6.0 released?

EHP8 for SAP ERP 6.0 became generally available in 2016. It runs on SAP NetWeaver 7.50 (AS ABAP 7.50), has SAP_APPL release 618, and is the last enhancement package SAP shipped for ERP 6.0. Later improvements came only as support package stacks on EHP8.

What is the difference between EHP7 and EHP8?

EHP7 runs on NetWeaver 7.40 with SAP_APPL 617; EHP8 runs on NetWeaver 7.50 with SAP_APPL 618. Both share the same maintenance dates. EHP8 adds further business functions and is the expected basis for the private edition transition option, so most customers staying on ECC target EHP8.

How do I check which EHP my SAP system is on?

Use System > Status and open component information. The SAP_APPL release tells you the level: 604 is EHP4, 605 EHP5, 606 EHP6, 617 EHP7, 618 EHP8. You can also read table CVERS in SE16, or check the package level in SPAM.
