Infor LN 10.7 Pick Note Configuration in Warehouse Outbound

Short answer
In Infor LN 10.7 Warehousing, the pick note (picking list) is produced by the outbound flow from the warehouse order lines: the warehouse parameters and outbound procedure decide when it is generated, the warehouse and location setup decide what appears on it, and the report layout decides how it looks. Configure those three layers in that order.
Applies to: Infor LN 10.7 Warehousing; terminology (pick note, pick list, picking document) and session names differ by feature pack, so confirm on your system
How to configure and test the pick note
- 1Confirm the warehouse is set up for LN Warehousing (not only inventory control): warehouse parameters, locations, and the warehouse is flagged to use the outbound processes.
- 2Review the outbound parameters and the outbound procedure for the order origin (sales, transfer, production issue) so the flow includes the pick step and the document you expect.
- 3Decide the picking method: pick by order, by wave or batch, or by location, and whether picking is released automatically or by a planner.
- 4Set up the output side: which report is linked to the pick document, which device or printer it goes to, and which language and layout apply.
- 5Create a test sales order with a few lines, release it to the warehouse, and generate the outbound advice and pick work.
- 6Print or preview the pick note for that order and check the line sequence, location, lot or serial prompts, quantities and unit of measure.
- 7Confirm the pick (goods issue) and verify that the order status moves on to shipping and that stock reduces from the picked location.
- 8Adjust the report layout in the report designer for your site (barcode, bin sort, notes) and re-test with a multi-line, multi-location order.
Where the configuration lives
Three places control the result. First, the warehouse and parameter setup determine which flow the order takes. Second, the outbound procedure and the picking method determine when the pick document is created and how lines are grouped. Third, the report and device setup determine what comes out of the printer.
When a pick note does not print, work backwards through these layers: is there a printer or device mapping, is the report linked to the document, and did the warehouse order reach the stage where the document is generated at all.
Pick sequence, locations and lots
The order of lines on the pick note usually follows the location sequence so the picker walks the warehouse once. If the sequence looks random, check the location sort fields and whether the location master has the aisle and bin data populated.
Lot and serial tracked items need the picker to confirm the exact lot or serial. Decide whether the pick note should suggest lots by FIFO or FEFO, or whether the picker chooses, and test the exception where available stock is split across several lots.
Layout and customization
Treat the standard report as a template. Copy it into your customer VRC before changing it so upgrades do not overwrite your work. Typical changes are a barcode of the order and line, a notes field, the customer pick instructions and a consistent paper size for your printers.
Test the report with real volume. A pick note that is fine at five lines but wraps badly at forty creates picking errors, so test the longest realistic order.
Common pitfalls
- !Editing the standard report directly instead of copying it to the customer VRC.
- !Configuring the report but not the device or printer mapping for the warehouse.
- !Missing aisle and bin data, so the pick sequence is not walkable.
- !Not testing lot and serial split picks.
- !Testing only with one-line orders.
How an ERP-grounded AI assistant handles this
Before go-live an assistant grounded in your LN data can compare orders released to the warehouse with pick documents generated, and list orders that stalled before the pick step with the likely reason. Frequently asked questions
What is a pick note in Infor LN?
It is the document used by warehouse staff to pick goods for an outbound order. Depending on version and terminology it may be called a pick list or picking document, and it is generated from the warehouse outbound flow.
Why is my pick note not printing?
Check, in order, that the order reached the stage where the document is created, that a report is linked to it, and that a device or printer is mapped for the warehouse. Then check the print queue for errors.
Can I customize the pick note layout?
Yes. Copy the standard report into your customer VRC and edit the copy in the report designer. Add barcodes, notes and sorting as needed, and test it with the largest realistic order.
Does this apply to LN versions before 10.7?
The concepts are similar, but session names and options differ across versions. Verify each step against your own system before relying on it.

How to process inbound and outbound warehousing orders in Infor LN
Infor LN Warehousing splits every physical movement into inbound (goods arriving, mainly from purchase orders) and outbound (goods leaving, mainly for sales orders), each driven by its own warehouse order type. Inbound runs through intake, inspection if required, and put-away; outbound runs through order release, picking, packing and shipment confirmation, with each stage updating the order status other modules watch.
Error fixInfor LN Reports Stuck in the Print Queue: Device and Spooler Fix
Infor LN reports and forms stay queued and never reach the printer when the target device definition points to a printer that is offline, or the print listener on the print server has stopped. Check the device's status in Common > Printing > Devices, confirm the underlying OS printer is reachable, and restart the print listener if jobs remain queued after the printer itself is fixed. Most cases trace back to a genuinely offline printer, not an LN bug.
How-toHow to process a sales order to invoice in Infor LN
In Infor LN a sales order moves from order entry to cash through four linked steps: create and approve the Sales Orders session, release the order lines to Warehousing so a warehouse order is generated, confirm the outbound shipment, and then run the invoicing session that composes and posts the sales invoice to Financials. Each step hands off through an integration document, so a stuck invoice almost always traces back to a missing or unconfirmed step earlier in the chain.
AdvancedHow to create a custom session in Infor LN Studio
Infor LN Studio's session designer generates a new maintenance, overview or detail session from a table definition, then lets you arrange fields, attach DAL2 validation, and wire menu access, all inside a custom package so the session survives upgrades. Building on a custom table gives the lowest upgrade risk; extending a standard table needs more care and re-testing after every release.
Error fixInfor LN bshell Process Stuck at 100% CPU: How to Diagnose and Fix It
A bshell process pinned at 100% CPU on the Infor LN application server almost always means one session is stuck in a 4GL loop, scanning an unindexed table, or waiting on a database lock. End the session from the Sessions Monitor first, then kill the OS process only if that fails, and check for a blocking database transaction before assuming it is a bug.
Error fixInfor LN Not Authorized to Run This Session: How to Fix It
Infor LN refuses to open a session with a not authorized message when the logged-in user's assigned role does not include that session, or when the session is blocked for the company they are logged into. Grant the session through Common > Authorization Management > Roles, or check the user's role and company context, and the session opens on retry. In most cases this is a permissions configuration issue, not a bug.
