These are classic GUI t-codes and most still work in S/4HANA. Fiori apps such as Monitor Purchase Order Items and the stock apps replace several of them in a launchpad, but exact app names vary by release. Authorization objects control what each user can see.

Optional. The tool and every export work without this. No spam.

How to find the right MM report

Search by the question you have, then check the area column. For purchase orders, the ME2 family differs only by the key you start from: ME2L by vendor, ME2M by material, ME2N by document number, ME2K by account assignment, ME2C by material group. For RFQs use the ME4 family in the same way, and ME49 compares the quotations. For stock, MB52 shows today, MB5B shows a past date, and MB51 shows the movements that made the number. Start narrow in selection to avoid long runs.

  • PO status: ME2L, ME2M, ME2N
  • RFQ report: ME4N, ME4L, ME4M and ME49
  • Stock now or at a date: MB52, MB5B
  • Movements: MB51
  • GR/IR and invoices: MB5S, MR11SHOW, MIR5, MRBR

MM reports for audit and period end

Auditors usually ask for four things: evidence that stock agrees to the books, that goods receipts and invoices are cleared, that approvals were followed, and who changed key data. MB5L compared with the stock accounts supports the first. MB5S and MR11SHOW cover GR/IR. MRBR and MIR5 with a user filter show who released blocked invoices. MM04 and the change history inside ME23N show master data and PO changes. Save selection variants so the same report is repeatable each period.

Layouts, variants and export

Most of these are ALV lists, so you can change the layout, add columns such as the buyer or delivery date, filter, sort and export to Excel. Save a layout and a selection variant per report, and name them by purpose, such as OPEN_PO_PAST_DUE. For recurring runs, schedule them in the background with SM36 and send the spool to a shared folder or mailbox, so the report is produced the same way every time.

Common mistakes

Using ME2N without limiting the scope of list type returns the full history and times out. Reading MB52 for a past date gives today's stock, not that date, which is what MB5B is for. Mixing company code and plant filters in valuation reports gives numbers that do not agree with the ledger. And exporting from a report without noting the selection makes the result impossible to reproduce for an auditor.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the standard reports in SAP MM?

The main ones are ME2L, ME2M and ME2N for purchase orders, ME4N for RFQs, ME1L for info records, MB51 and MB52 for stock movements and stock, MB5S for GR/IR and MIR5 for invoices. The table lists more with their use.

What is the RFQ report in SAP MM?

ME4N lists RFQs by RFQ number, ME4L by vendor, ME4M by material and ME4C by material group. ME49 gives the price comparison across quotations. ME1E shows quotation price history. All of them are available in the standard menu.

Which SAP MM reports do auditors use?

Typically MB5L for stock value reconciliation, MB5S for GR/IR, MB51 for movements by user, MRBR and MIR5 for invoice release, MM04 for material change history, and ME2L for vendor spend. Save variants so the evidence can be reproduced.

What is the difference between MB52 and MB5B?

MB52 shows current stock and value by plant and storage location. MB5B reconstructs stock and value for a past posting date from the material documents. Use MB5B for month-end evidence, but check it against MB5L.

If your team still runs the same few of these reports each week and copies them into Excel, we can build a private AI layer on your SAP data to answer those questions directly, read-only, and on-prem if needed.
