Infor Factory Track Warehouse Mobility with SyteLine: receiving, moves, counts and issues

Warehouse Mobility is a Mongoose-based module in Factory Track that uses barcode scanning to automate receiving, material moves, cycle counting and material issue against SyteLine. It is a native Infor add-on, so it sits on the same platform as the SyteLine forms and IDOs.

How Infor Factory Track - Warehouse Mobility connects to Infor CloudSuite Industrial (SyteLine)

Native add-on built on the Mongoose platform

SyteLine itself is built on Mongoose, and Warehouse Mobility uses the same framework. Handheld screens call the same business logic that the SyteLine inventory forms use, so receiving, moves and issues follow your existing item, location and lot rules.

Mobile web client on handhelds

Users reach the screens from rugged handhelds over Wi-Fi. For on-prem installs the application server is inside your network; confirm in your version's documentation which components are required.

Setting it up

  1. 1Confirm licensing and versionVerify with Infor that Warehouse Mobility is included for your SyteLine or CloudSuite Industrial Enterprise licence and which release you need.
  2. 2Standardise locations and itemsUse clean location codes and consistent item numbers and UoMs so scans resolve to exactly one record.
  3. 3Design barcode labelsDefine what labels carry (item, lot, location, PO line) and print them with your label tool before testing scans.
  4. 4Configure the mobile screensEnable only the transactions you need, set default warehouse and location behavior, and decide which fields are required.
  5. 5Set permissionsLimit who can receive, issue, adjust or count, since a handheld makes adjustments very fast.
  6. 6Pilot receiving and countsRun receiving and cycle counting first, reconcile against SyteLine on-hand daily, then add moves and job issues.
  7. 7Roll out with a fallbackDocument manual entry steps in the SyteLine forms for network or hardware outages.

What usually breaks

  • !Lot and serial tracked items fail at scan time if the item master tracking flags and numbering are not set; verify before the first receipt.
  • !Receiving against the wrong PO line or over-receipt tolerance causes silent overages; set tolerances deliberately.
  • !Location-less stock stays invisible to pickers; require a location on every receipt.
  • !Customised SyteLine forms or events can behave differently from mobile transactions; test the mobile path, not only the desktop form.
  • !Wi-Fi dead zones create timeouts and repeated scans; survey the whole warehouse, including near metal racking.
  • !Letting everyone post inventory adjustments from a handheld hides shrinkage; restrict and audit adjustments.

A private AI layer across both systems

Receiving discrepancies

A private assistant can compare PO quantities, receipts and putaways and list lines received but not put away or received over tolerance.

Count variance analysis

After a count it can read the item's transaction history and suggest the likely cause of a variance for a person to confirm.

Inventory questions by voice or text

Warehouse leads can ask where an item or lot is and what is on hand by location, answered from SyteLine on your own servers.

Slotting hints

It can read move history to suggest items that are moved often between locations, as input for a human slotting review.

When something else fits better

  • A third-party scanning suite such as RF Plus or Nutech Viewpoint Barcode can fit better if you want a different screen design or vendor support model.
  • A full WMS is needed for wave picking, directed putaway or multi-warehouse orchestration.
  • Plain SyteLine inventory forms with scheduled cycle counts are sufficient in small stockrooms.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the Mongoose platform matter?

SyteLine is built on Mongoose, so an add-on on the same platform reuses its forms, IDOs and security. That generally means fewer integration surfaces than a separate product, though customisations still need testing.

Does it support lot and serial control?

Infor describes barcode-driven receiving, moves, counts and issues. Lot and serial behavior depends on your item setup, so test controlled items end to end during your pilot.

Is it only for the cloud edition?

The documentation covers CloudSuite Industrial, but SyteLine is widely run on-prem, and the module is an Infor add-on. Confirm your version and hosting model with Infor before planning.

How would AI help here?

A private layer reads inventory transactions and master data to find discrepancies, explain count variances and answer questions in plain language. It stays read-only by default and drafts any correction for a human to approve.
