Infor M3 Cloud Migration Readiness Assessment

Moving an on-premises Infor M3 estate to CloudSuite is mostly about what surrounds the ERP: customizations, integrations, reports and the people who own them. This assessment scores ten areas so you can see where the risk sits before you plan dates.

0 of 10 answered0%

1. How are your M3 customizations documented?

Includes Smart Office scripts, H5 scripts, extensions, custom reports and modified data.

2. How do your customizations fit cloud extension options?

3. How are your integrations built?

4. How current is your M3 release?

5. How good is your master data?

6. How do you handle reporting today?

7. Do you have a test strategy and test data?

8. How available are business and technical owners for the project?

9. How do you manage security and roles?

10. How clear is the business case for the move?

How to use the assessment

Answer each question for your current environment, not the plan. Involve an IT owner and a business owner so the answers are honest. The score is a percentage of the maximum, and the band tells you whether to assess further, close gaps, rehearse or proceed. Re-run it after each remediation phase to track progress.

What the questions measure

The questions cover five themes: customizations and their fit with supported extension methods, integrations and how they connect, data quality and reporting, testing and ownership, and governance. These are the areas that most often change cost and schedule in an M3 cloud move, more than the standard functionality itself.

  • Customizations: inventory and technical fit
  • Integrations: APIs, MEC, ION and file exchange
  • Data: cleansing and reporting dependency
  • People: owners, test capacity, sponsor

Common mistakes

Treating the move as a lift and shift is the biggest mistake. Scripts or reports that touch the database directly may need redesign. Another is leaving reporting until late: users judge the new system by whether their reports exist. Finally, underestimating test effort leads to rushed cutovers. Use this score as a conversation starter, not a verdict.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a vendor sizing tool?

No. It is an independent self-check of your readiness. It does not size licenses or price a subscription. Use your Infor representative or partner for commercial sizing.

What is the biggest risk in an M3 cloud move?

Usually the unknown: undocumented customizations and integrations, especially those relying on direct database access. Inventory them early and decide which to keep, rebuild or retire.

Should we upgrade before moving?

It depends on your release and the migration path your partner proposes. Compare an upgrade-then-move plan with a direct move and decide based on risk, cost and the customizations involved.

How long does a cloud migration take?

It varies widely with size, customization and data. Smaller estates can take a few months, while complex multi-company estates take longer. Use a fit and gap study to get a reliable range for your own case.

If your score points to customization or integration risk, we can help inventory them and see where automation or agents can speed the review.
